Position Summary:
The National Sales Manager (NSM) is responsible for leading, developing, and managing the national sales force to achieve sustainable business growth and profitability. This role will oversee all aspects of sales team management, distributor development, market expansion, and customer engagement while ensuring the companys strategic sales objectives are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Force Development & Team Leadership
- Recruit, build, and develop a strong sales team (SR, SS, ASM, RSM) for long-term growth.
- Ensure manpower planning and effective allocation across regions.
- Motivate, coach, and retain talent to create a high-performing, loyal sales team.
- Conduct regular training:
- Sales Representatives: product knowledge, selling skills.
- Supervisors/ASM/RSM: supervisory and leadership skills.
- Set up and monitor KPIs for sales teams; conduct performance evaluations with clear feedback and improvement plans.
- Provide field coaching to ensure effective execution and problem-solving in market.
2. Sales Operations & Market Execution
- Establish effective call plans in cooperation with SS, ASM, RSM.
- Monitor and analyze sales performance across territories; implement corrective actions when needed.
- Set up and achieve company sales targets, ensuring consistency with business plans.
- Ensure timely updates and communication on company sales policy, product knowledge, pricing, promotional campaigns, and competitor activities.
- Conduct monthly team meetings to review market situation, identify issues, and propose solutions.
- Diversify distribution channels to expand market coverage and increase share.
- Develop systems to control and monitor sales activities effectively.
3. Distributor & Customer Management
- Identify, recruit, and develop strong distributors in assigned regions.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with distributors and key customers.
- Ensure distribution coverage, market visibility, and merchandising standards are achieved.
- Suggest and implement effective promotional programs for customers.
- Work closely with cross-functional departments (accounting, logistics, administration) to ensure excellent customer service and smooth operations.
4. Business Development & Market Growth
- Drive profitable and sustainable growth in assigned territories.
- Expand market penetration by opening new outlets and maximizing existing ones.
- Analyze market trends, competitor movements, and consumer insights to support strategic decision-making.
People Management & Leadership
- Lead, coach, and inspire a sales force of 500+ employees nationwide.
- Foster a performance-driven culture that emphasizes accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Manage resources, budgets, and sales costs effectively to deliver business objectives.
- Build strong internal collaboration across departments to ensure smooth execution of sales initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in FMCG sales management at middle/senior management level.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale sales teams (500+ people).
- In-depth understanding of FMCG industry success factors, distribution systems, and market dynamics.
- Strong experience in sales operations, distributor management, and market expansion.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Fluency in both English and Vietnamese is required.
