Chief Accountant

gbc engineers Vietnam is looking for a hands-on Chief Accountant to take full ownership of our day-to-day accounting function and work closely with the Director and Group Finance team.

We specialize in structural design, BIM modeling, and project management for industrial, commercial, and residential developments across Europe. Combining German engineering precision with digital innovation and international collaboration, we deliver sustainable, high-quality design solutions for the built environment.

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Industry: Engineering Consultancy - Construction

Main Tasks:

• Own accounting operations, monthly/year-end closing and financial reporting.
• Manage tax filings, compliance, audits and VAT refund applications end-to-end.
• Prepare P&L, cash flow, budgets and financial forecasts.
• Liaise with tax officers, government authorities, banks and auditors.
• Ensure compliance with Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) and tax regulations.
• Lead and support the accounting team while improving financial processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and automate routine tasks.

Main Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• 4+ years of accounting experience in Vietnam, including closing, tax filings and year-end audit
• Chief Accountant Certificate (Chứng chỉ Kế toán trưởng) required under Vietnamese law
• Strong knowledge of Vietnamese accounting standards and tax regulations
• Excellent accounting software and MS Office skills (mainly Excel)
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality
• Good communication skills, particularly with authorities and external stakeholders
• Nice to have: CPA/ACCA/CMA, experience leading an accounting team, or experience in an engineering/construction company.
• German language skills or experience in a German/European company is also a plus.
