The Trade Manager is responsible for shaping and executing ZIMs commercial strategy in the assigned trade lane. This role leads efforts to optimize revenue, capacity utilization, and market positioning by integrating market intelligence, cross-functional collaboration, and strong customer engagement.
Trade Strategy & Planning
Develop and implement trade strategies aligned with ZIMs global goals and regional opportunities.
Analyze macroeconomic trends, geopolitical factors, and competitive dynamics to identify opportunities for growth and trade optimization.
Provide input into service deployment plans, vessel allocation, and new market entries.
Capacity Management
Ensure weekly capacity utilization targets (100%) are met through cargo planning and high grading during peak periods.
Drive pricing strategy and revenue optimization in coordination with the BU and pricing teams.
Monitor and adjust forecasts regularly based on market developments and booking patterns.
Benchmark ZIM&aposs trade performance against competitors and market norms to improve strategic agility.
Market & Customer Intelligence
Conduct deep market analysis and develop for trade performance and customer behavior.
Track top customer performance and work with sales/commercial teams to address gaps or opportunities.
Identify and mitigate risks related to market fluctuations, operational disruptions, and regulatory impacts.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with Regional BU and internal department to ensure trade competitiveness in terms of cost structure and schedule integrity.
Coordinate with cross functions within the organization for meeting the common objectives & KPIs
Leadership & Team Development
Provide coaching, training, and professional development to team members to enhance their skills.
Conduct weekly team meetings, review performance, and provide feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Logistics, Economics, or related field with 58 years of experience in trade management, commercial planning, or container shipping.
- Good communication in both Vietnamese & English
- Strong analytical mindset with proven skills in pricing, forecasting, and market analysis.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- High proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI
