This role is for CODE LEAP's client company - JTL-Software
JTL-Software is one of Germany's leading providers of e-commerce and ERP solutions. More than 50,000 retailers rely on JTL every day to run their business. Our global development center in Vietnam is looking for talented people to build the next generation of these products. You'll work in an international team that pairs German software quality and Vietnamese speed to innovate.
Tens of thousands of merchants run their business on JTL. Their data, every order, article and stock movement, is spread across thousands of local systems, where it works for no one. We are changing that. The Customer Data Platform brings merchant data into the cloud, securely and with permission, and turns it into answers merchants can act on. It is the foundation beneath our new BI product, our AI agent Juno and every data product JTL will build next.
A first version already runs end to end. Now we are taking it from a handful of pilot merchants to a foundation built for thousands. We are a new, small and senior team with a clear mandate, a modern stack (Python, DuckDB, dbt, PostgreSQL, Dagster, Azure, Terraform) and an AI-native way of working: specs and decision records first, coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex doing much of the implementation, humans owning design, review and judgement.
You build the services that make the platform trustworthy: how data gets in, who may run what, and how products get their answers, for exactly one merchant and never for another. You own these services end to end, from infrastructure and pipeline to code, tests and production behavior. Security is not a feature here; it is the product. We hire at Mid-Level or Senior and set the level with you, based on your experience.
The team spans Germany and Vietnam: two senior engineering leaders in Germany and three engineers in Ho Chi Minh City. You will work directly with the German leads, with our internal data team and with the product teams that build on the platform. Working language is English; we work asynchronously by default and meet daily in a shared overlap window.

YOUR EXCITING TASKS
- Design, build and run backend services and container jobs in Python on Azure, including their Terraform and CI/CD.
- Make tenant isolation provable: short-lived credentials, least-privilege identities, row-level security and the automated tests that keep them honest.
- Integrate identity (OIDC, Microsoft Entra ID) so every person, service and run acts under its own identity.
- Instrument what you build so that when something breaks, we learn which merchant, which step and why.
- Write short specs and decision records before building; ship through small, reviewed pull requests.
- Design and run agent workflows: decompose work for Claude Code and Codex, orchestrate parallel agents, let them triage issues and draft fixes, and review what comes back with a critical eye.
- 6+ years (Senior) building production software, with strong Python.
- Hands-on experience running services on Azure or a comparable cloud, and with Terraform and CI/CD.
- A solid grasp of authentication and authorisation (OAuth2 / OIDC, tokens, RBAC) and secure-by default design.
- Good SQL and PostgreSQL; you know what roles, permissions and row-level security are for.
- Tests are part of done for you, and you would rather raise a loud alarm than ship a quiet mistake.
- Hands-on, daily experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Codex, beyond autocomplete: you have built agent workflows, orchestrated agents on real tasks and know where they fail.
- Clear written and spoken English.
- Multi-tenant SaaS platforms and tenant isolation in storage, compute or database layers.
- Dagster, DuckDB, dbt or data pipelines in general.
- Azure Container Apps, Azure Front Door / WAF, Zitadel or Keycloak.
- Building agent tooling: MCP servers, custom skills and hooks, agent evals, automated issue triage or AI-assisted SRE.
- E-commerce or ERP background.
