Job Description
About The Team
The Procurement Strategy & Market Insights team sets the sourcing strategy for SPX Vietnam's and leads the strategic sourcing projects that follow from it. Its mandate covers validating and consolidating business demand, mapping supply markets, designing how each category should be sourced, and building the cost models that set negotiation targets.
This role leads strategic sourcing projects from end to end, with a deliberate emphasis on the supply side: how each category's market is structured, who the credible players are, what things should cost, and therefore what commercial leverage SPX actually has.
It partners with Business Units, Finance and FP&A, Legal, Infrastructure, IT, P2P, Payment and BI, and it carries an explicit mandate, backed by procurement leadership, to question demand before it is sourced.
Categories in scope include but are not limited to IT, labor and outsourced services, automation, tools & equipment, facility management, and consumables.
The role is coached directly by the hiring manager on stakeholder management, sourcing mechanics and SPX-specific context. Technical and commercial depth in the assigned categories is expected to be built on the job; what we hire for is the ability to build it fast.

Job Description
Demand validation & consolidation
- Test and consolidate business demand before sourcing begins: challenge specifications, separate technical necessity from preference, and aggregate requirements across sites and regions
- Build enough technical understanding of each assigned category to question a specification credibly, and know when to bring in internal technical owners as the authority
- Convert validated demand into a clear sourcing scope and business case
- Map assigned categories: market structure, credible players, capacity, cost drivers, price trends and supply risk
- Run primary research alongside desk research: vendor outreach, supplier interviews, site and facility visits. Verify what documents claim
- Analyse vendor financial statements to assess financial health, capacity and cost position, including where reporting quality is weak or incomplete
- Synthesise findings into short, decision-ready briefs for procurement and business leadership
- Build should-cost and total cost of ownership models for assigned categories
- Quantify the full cost picture: purchase price, installation, operating and maintenance cost, consumables, downtime, and exit or end-of-life cost
- Maintain the models so they stay usable across tenders, renewals and budget cycles
- Recommend how each category should be sourced: tender versus direct negotiation, single versus multi- source, bundling versus unbundling, lot structure and contract model
- Work with stakeholders to design fair evaluation scorecards that select the best overall solution rather than the lowest quote
- Ensure information flows to the right function at the right time so that decisions are made on complete inputs
- Set negotiation targets grounded in category cost structure, vendor financial position, market landscape and SPX's leverage
- Propose deal structures: pricing mechanism, volume commitment, term, price adjustment, service levels and commercial safeguards
- Hand over a clear negotiation brief to the sourcing team and support them analytically through the negotiation
- Drive assigned strategic sourcing projects from problem definition to signed contract and handover: timeline, workstreams, stakeholder alignment and escalation
- Coordinate inputs from Legal, FP&A, Finance, Payment, BI, and Business unit.
- Document outcomes and feed lessons learned back into category strateg
Education & experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics or a related field
- Prior procurement experience is welcome but not required. Candidates from other backgrounds who clearly meet the must-have capabilities below will be considered
- Has covered at least one category, industry or commodity deeply enough to explain its market structure and cost drivers without preparation
- Has built a cost or financial model from scratch, with explicit drivers and sensitivities. Maintaining a model or dashboard built by someone else does not count
- Demonstrated ability to learn an unfamiliar domain quickly and by choice, and comfort asking basic technical questions without ego
- Willing and able to do primary research in the field: cold vendor outreach, supplier interviews, and site or facility visits across Vietnam
