Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services in NodeJS with NestJS, following the existing microservice architecture and conventions.
• Define and version REST/GraphQL APIs consumed by the Flutter mobile app and by other internal services, including contract-first specs and backward compatibility.
• Model data across a polyglot persistence layer: relational databases for transactional consistency, NoSQL for high-volume or flexible-schema workloads. Write and tune queries, design indexes, and handle migrations safely.
• Implement inter-service communication patterns (sync HTTP/gRPC, async messaging/event-driven) with attention to idempotency, retries, and failure isolation.
• Containerize services and support their deployment to AWS EKS. Work with Helm charts or equivalent manifests, resource limits, health probes, and autoscaling configuration.
• Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines: automated tests, static analysis, security scanning, image build, and deployment stages across environments.
• Write unit and integration tests. Maintain meaningful coverage on business-critical paths.
• Instrument services with logging, metrics, and tracing. Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and follow-up fixes.
• Take part in code review, technical design discussions, and estimation. Document decisions.
• Work directly with client-side stakeholders in English across time zones.

Requirements

• 2+ years building production backend services with NodeJS and TypeScript, NestJS or a comparable structured framework.
• Hands-on experience in a microservice environment: service decomposition, API contracts, distributed data, and the operational trade-offs involved.
• Solid relational database skills (PostgreSQL or MySQL): schema design, transactions, query optimization. Practical experience with at least one NoSQL store (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, or similar) and a clear view of when to use which.
• Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes. Able to read and modify manifests, debug a failing pod, and understand how a service reaches production.
• Experience with AWS services in day-to-day development (EKS, plus any of ECR, S3, RDS, SQS/SNS, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch).
• Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitLab CI.
• Strong Git workflow discipline and code review habits.
• English good enough for written and spoken technical discussion with an overseas team.
