Job Description

The Opportunity

Our client, a globally renowned engineering, design and consulting firm, is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the people agenda for Vietnam.

This is a highly business-facing role offering significant autonomy and empowerment to develop and drive local HR initiatives, while working closely with APAC Centres of Excellence (COEs) and participating in broader regional programmes.

With transactional HR activities supported by an established Shared Services Centre (SSC), the role is less focused on day-to-day HR administration and provides greater opportunity to focus on strategic business partnering, talent, employee engagement, organisational development and workforce initiatives.

About the Role

  • Act as a trusted HR partner to business leaders in Vietnam, providing strategic and practical advice on people and organisational matters.
  • Partner closely with leadership to translate business priorities into effective people and talent strategies.
  • Take ownership and have the empowerment to develop and implement local HR initiatives based on the needs of the Vietnam business.
  • Collaborate with APAC COEs and actively participate in regional HR initiatives, bringing regional best practices into the local organisation.
  • Provide leadership and guidance across employee relations, performance management, talent management, succession planning, leadership development and workforce planning.
  • Drive key annual people cycles including performance reviews, salary reviews, promotions, succession planning and employee engagement.
  • Lead and support organisational development, change management and business transformation initiatives.
  • Coach and advise leaders on people management and organisational effectiveness.
  • Leverage workforce data and HR insights to support business and talent decisions.
  • Champion employee engagement, wellbeing, diversity & inclusion and a high-performance culture.
  • Partner with the SSC and regional HR teams, enabling the role to maintain a strong strategic and business-partnering focus rather than being heavily involved in transactional HR operations.

The Successful Candidate

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or a related discipline.
  • 8–12 years of progressive HR Business Partnering or HR Generalist experience, ideally within engineering, professional services, consulting, infrastructure, construction or related sectors.
  • Strong experience partnering with senior stakeholders within a matrixed and multinational environment.
  • Comfortable working with a high degree of local autonomy while collaborating within an APAC HR structure.
  • Strong experience across employee relations, performance management, talent management, organisational development and workforce planning.
  • Experience driving change initiatives, leadership coaching and employee engagement programmes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to connect people initiatives with wider business priorities.
  • High level of professionalism, cultural awareness, discretion and sound judgement.
