We are seeking an exceptional Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with a strong software engineering foundation to lead the global technology vision and execution of a fast-growing digital asset exchange. The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in trading systems and scalable financial applications with proven leadership in the digital asset ecosystem ensuring the platform continues to innovate as a world-class exchange.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the long-term technology strategy, balancing scalability, security, and innovation.
- Drive architectural decisions for high-performance trading systems with a focus on low-latency execution, real-time data processing, and multi-asset class trading.
- Exchange Platform Development
- Oversee the development of mobile and web trading platforms, ensuring seamless user experience, order execution, and market access.
- Lead innovation in algorithmic trading, smart order routing (SOR), and risk management solutions.
- Ensure API-first, microservices-based architecture to support institutional clients, third-party integrations, and white-label solutions.
- Oversee the design and security of wallet infrastructure (hot/cold wallets, custody solutions).
- Ensure secure blockchain integrations (nodes, smart contracts, DeFi connectivity) and reliable crypto asset settlement.
- Implement exchange-grade security practices across custody, trading, and payments.
- Build ultra-low latency trading infrastructure that meets the demands of high-frequency and institutional trading clients.
- Ensure multi-region connectivity and real-time market data streaming with fault tolerance and high availability.
- Optimize databases, caching strategies, and data analytics pipelines to handle millions of trades per second.
- Work closely with risk, compliance, and legal teams to ensure the platform meets global regulatory standards.
- Implement robust internal controls, audit readiness, and operational resilience measures.
- Build and scale a high-performing engineering team across global locations.
- Partner with the CEO and executive team to align technology decisions with business goals.
Requirement:
- 12+ years of progressive software engineering leadership in trading, brokerage, exchange, or financial systems, with at least 5 years in a senior technology executive role.
- Proven success in building and scaling low-latency trading platforms or high-performance financial systems.
- Experience in the digital asset / crypto ecosystem, including custody, blockchain integrations, or exchange operations.
- Strong knowledge of trading systems architecture, OMS, FIX APIs, DMA, WebSockets, and market connectivity.
- Expertise in distributed systems, high-performance computing, real-time data streaming, and DevOps best practices (CI/CD, monitoring, automation).
- Familiarity with wallet infrastructure, blockchain nodes, smart contracts, and crypto security protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-location engineering teams.
- Strategic thinker who can also dive into technical details and problem-solve.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Advanced technical or MBA qualifications a plus.
