Role Description

Medical Interpreting & Translation Center (MIT Center) is currently hiring experienced Vietnamese–English Medical Interpreters to support real-time communication between Vietnamese-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare providers.

This is a fully remote opportunity with both full-time and part-time schedules available, providing Over-the-Phone Interpreting (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services.

Previous professional medical interpreting experience is mandatory for this position.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, complete, and impartial consecutive interpretation between Vietnamese and English.
• Facilitate effective communication between patients, healthcare professionals, and medical staff.
• Interpret medical consultations, patient assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, medication instructions, and other healthcare-related interactions.
• Accurately convey medical terminology and sensitive patient information.
• Maintain strict confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical interpreting standards.
• Manage remote interpretation sessions through OPI and VRI platforms.

Qualifications

• Advanced fluency in BOTH Vietnamese and English (C1 level or higher is required).
• Proven professional experience in medical interpreting is REQUIRED.
• Previous experience interpreting healthcare-related conversations involving patients and medical professionals.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology in both Vietnamese and English.
• Excellent consecutive interpreting, active listening, and communication skills.
• Ability to remain accurate, impartial, and professional during sensitive medical conversations.
• Reliable internet connection, PC/laptop, noise-canceling USB headset, webcam, and a quiet, private workspace.

Preferred (Not Mandatory)

Candidates with the following qualifications will have an advantage:

• CCHI or NBCMI certification, where applicable.
• Previous experience with OPI/VRI platforms.
• Medical interpreter training or relevant healthcare education.
• Experience supporting U.S. healthcare providers.
• Familiarity with healthcare confidentiality and patient privacy standards.

100% Remote Position

Applicants must be professionally fluent in both Vietnamese and English, regardless of their country of residence.

Important: Fluency in Vietnamese and English is mandatory. Applicants who speak other languages but do not meet the required Vietnamese–English proficiency will not be considered.

Employment Type & Compensation

• Fully remote position.
• Full-time and part-time opportunities.
• Competitive per-interpreted-minute compensation paid in USD.
• Monthly Adherence Bonus upon reaching 5,000 interpreted minutes, subject to company eligibility requirements.
• Scheduling based on agreed availability blocks and operational needs.
• Ongoing medical interpretation assignments.
