Tooling Engineer (Stamping dies)

OVERVIEW:

Design and develop stamping dies for new kitchen appliance products.

LOCATION: Vietnam

Responsibilities:

The ideal applicant would have strong knowledge of stamping dies processes excellent tooling design experience and development skills. Problem solving and good documentation skills are also required. Good communications skills are must for this job, and the candidate must speak and write English proficiently. Global manufacturing experience is desired and international travel is required.

• Travel to OEM, production supplier, tooling shop sites for stamping dies issues solution, technical supplier assessment, process development and validation, or issue resolution.
• Check DFM, with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering (Identify concept design short-falls early, - Identify production capacity issues in concept baselines, - Identify design improvement opportunities)
• Review and improve Tooling 2D&3D drawing with OEM and tooling supplier.
• Design experience and familiar with complex structure tooling at deep draw,simple dies, and progressive dies. Strong tooling concept for tooling design.
• Handle and analyze for tooling capacity, yield issues for project and drive root cause corrective action across internal and supplier factories
• Estimate tooling capacity analysis and make out duplicated tools to meet production ramp plan.
• Monitor tooling build and modify process and ensure its on schedule.
• Deal with sudden stamping dies and production issues at production supplier with effective solutions.
• Travel to internal supplier sites to support process development efforts and issue resolution with 40-50% travel.
• Ensure tasks are delivered on time; meet performance, quality and reliability goals
• Participate in Critical Engineering Reviews to ensure product and process design for tooling making and production.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience in stamping Engineering and dies Design engineering, Mechanical Engineering. At least 8-10 years of experience in stamping dies design or Tooling project management development.
• Proficient knowledge for software at Pro/E, AutoCAD, Excel and Power Point.
• Proficient oral and written English communication skills.
• Strong technical experience and interpersonal skills in a team across many functions.

Functional Skills/Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of stamping dies processes,design and production.
• Excellent tooling design experience and development skills.
• Problem solving and good documentation skills
• Good communications skills are must for this job
• Speak and write English proficiently
• Global manufacturing experience

Education/Certifications/Affiliations

• College degree in Mold Design, mechanical, manufacturing engineering or related degree

Travel Requirements:

• Limited, mainly to mold makers and finished good suppliers inside SEA
