Organization Context
As a life insurance company, HLV manages a large and long-term investment portfolio to support policyholder liabilities, solvency requirements and sustainable shareholder return. The Fixed Income Investment role is a key position within the Investment Division, reporting directly to the CFO and working closely with Finance, Risk Management, Actuarial, Legal and Operations teams to ensure that fixed income investment activities are aligned with Asset-Liability Management, liquidity needs, regulatory requirements and approved risk appetite. In the Vietnam market environment, where interest rates, bond liquidity, issuer credit quality and regulatory developments can change significantly, this role contributes to disciplined portfolio management, timely investment execution and prudent risk control.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the review and assessment of corporate bond investment opportunities for HLV in line with Asset-Liability Management (ALM), investment policy, approved risk appetite and regulatory requirements applicable to life insurance companies.
- Review corporate bond investment proposals and assess issuer credit quality, repayment capacity, bond structure, collateral package, covenants, pricing, liquidity and suitability for HLV's long-term insurance liabilities.
- Conduct and/or review due diligence on corporate bond opportunities, including issuer financial strength, business outlook, sector risk, legal documentation, use of proceeds, related-party exposure, security package, downside scenarios and exit options; prepare or review investment recommendations for approval.
- Monitor corporate bond market conditions, issuer credit developments, interest rate movements and regulatory changes to identify material risks and support timely investment or risk mitigation recommendations.
- Ensure corporate bond investment reviews and transactions comply with internal investment limits, approval authority, documentation standards, risk controls and relevant Vietnamese insurance and corporate bond regulations.
- Prepare regular reports for management on corporate bond exposure, issuer concentration, maturity profile, credit risk, compliance status, market updates and key watchlist items.
- Maintain effective relationships with banks, securities companies, bond issuers, arrangers and market counterparties to access corporate bond opportunities, market intelligence and supporting due diligence information.
- Coordinate with Finance, Risk, Legal, Actuarial and Operations teams to complete corporate bond review, approval, execution, settlement, post-investment monitoring and issue resolution in a timely manner.
Job Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Vietnam's financial market, with focus on corporate bond market, banking system, interest rate environment and fixed income investment products.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in corporate bond investment, credit analysis, fixed income investment, investment research, banking credit, corporate finance or asset management. Experience in life insurance investment is a plus.
- Solid capability in reviewing corporate bond opportunities, including issuer financial analysis, repayment capacity, business outlook, sector risk, collateral, covenants, transaction structure, legal documentation and downside scenarios.
- Good understanding of regulations applicable to corporate bonds, insurance company investments, internal investment limits, approval process and risk control requirements in Vietnam.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting or other relevant disciplines. CFA, FRM, CPA or other finance-related qualifications are an advantage.
- Strong analytical, writing and presentation skills, with ability to prepare clear investment review memos and recommendations for management approval.
- Fluent in English and Vietnamese, with good teamwork, stakeholder coordination and ability to work under pressure.
