Job Description
COMPANY PROFILE
Nam Viet Packaging is a leading metal packaging company in Vietnam, with more than 25 years of experience in the industry. The company serves some of the best local and international brands, and has always been praised by the partners for its quality products, exceptional services and customer-driven mentality.
Currently operating with 5 factories in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Ha Noi, the company offers a range of different packaging catered for food items (infant formula, dry nuts, cooking oil), industrial products (paint, adhesives, chemicals), fancy boxes, biscuit cans, along with metal printing service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Factory Manager is accountable for the results of every factory function across all sites: printing and coating, packaging production, engineering and maintenance, and quality. That means output, delivery, cost, quality and safety, with most of the work at Long Thanh (Dong Nai) and Ho Chi Minh City. This is a hands-on role: you will spend most of your time on the shop floor with your team, not in an office.
1. Production Operations & Planning
- Direct all manufacturing operations, from coating and printing through packaging production to finished-goods packing, so that output and on-time delivery meet the balanced production plan.
- Balance capacity against orders, own the master production schedule, and coordinate with Sales, Supply Chain and the other departments across the value chain.
- Set, track and deliver output, OEE, scrap and changeover targets for every printing, coating and packaging line, and review performance with the teams every week.
- Build production data that is accurate, on time and trusted: daily records from every line, visual dashboards, and monthly reviews that end in decisions.
- Lead waste-reduction projects whose savings are measured in money.
2. Engineering & Maintenance
- Make preventive maintenance the norm, so machines run stably and unplanned stoppages fall.
- Make sure breakdowns are fixed quickly and their root causes removed; assess equipment condition regularly and approve repairs or replacements when needed.
- Prepare investment proposals for productivity, capacity and new technology, backed by numbers, and lead the equipment side of the planned expansion of our Long Thanh plant.
3. Quality
- Enforce quality control through the whole process, from coating and printing to packaging production and packing, so every product meets specification before it ships.
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) on customer complaints and internal non-conformances, and make sure each one is closed and does not recur.
- Lead continuous quality improvement and build an increasingly rigorous Quality Management System (QMS).
4. HSE & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety and environment (HSE) regulations across all sites, including occupational safety and fire safety.
- Keep all certifications valid (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, SMETA, EcoVadis...) and keep the sites ready for customer and certification audits at any time.
- Take responsibility for the factories legal records and permits: environmental impact assessments, fire safety, construction and related records.
5. Cost Control
- Build the annual production budget from the Sales Forecast, track actual against budget every month, and keep production cost within the approved budget.
- Set headcount, shift patterns and labor deployment to match volume, and manage labor cost per unit of output.
6. Team Development
- Lead the factory management team so that decisions are clearly communicated, understood and carried out with full commitment.
- Give every manager and supervisor clear authority and clear KPIs, and review their performance regularly.
- Build the team at every level: develop staff into supervisors and supervisors into managers, and hire from outside where a role needs it. Whichever route you take, every key position must have a development and succession plan that is carried out, reviewed regularly, and followed by action.
- Build multi-skilling across the shop-floor workforce.
- Build a culture of production discipline, accountability and continuous improvement.
YOUR FIRST 12 MONTHS
Alongside the priorities you agree with us, we expect to see:
- Production data from every line that management trusts and uses to make decisions.
- Measurable cost savings from lower scrap and material loss, less downtime and better labor productivity.
- Higher productivity and OEE on printing and packaging lines, against an agreed baseline.
- Fewer customer complaints. Internal non-conformances keep being reported, and are closed more thoroughly and promptly, with their root causes removed.
- A stronger team, with development and succession plans for key positions carried out and reviewed on a regular rhythm.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in Engineering, Industrial Technology or Business.
- Over 10 years of management experience in manufacturing. Experience in metal packaging, printing, food or packaging manufacturing is an advantage.
- A hands-on leader who is at home on the shop floor, with a proven record of building teams and developing people into leadership roles.
- Lean / 5S experience on the shop floor, and comfortable working with data.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Works well across departments and can handle several priorities at once.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations in a manufacturing setting.
- Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control.
- Ability to analyze production data and generate meaningful reports.
- Project management skills with a track record of leading cross-functional projects.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Experience in training and developing manufacturing personnel.
- Ability to foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- Proficiency with manufacturing execution systems (MES), strong MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), ERP is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Willing to travel between sites (mainly Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City).
BENEFITS
- Competitive compensation package.
- A clear path to Factory Director for a manager who delivers measurable results.
- Dynamic, progressive working environment with exposure to both domestic and international partners.
JOIN US IF YOU
- Believe in data and are willing to build it: trustworthy records from the floor up, so every problem is diagnosed, and every decision made, on real numbers.
- Refuse to accept waste as normal, whether it is material, machine time or labor.
- Would rather build a team on the shop floor than manage it from an office.
- See developing people as a long-term investment, and are willing to build the succession pipeline that lets a company grow.
