Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing process development and improvement (40%)
  • Identify and develop solutions to achieve daily and monthly production targets through proper guidelines for action taking to fix issues.
  • Continuously improve manufacturing processes towards cost reduction and yield and capacity improvement through direct hands-on approach within target budgets.
  • Lead QRB projects to make sure new processes, products, changes are released on time.
  • Apply and coach team to use lean, 6 sigma and SPC for trouble shooting and process improvement.
  • Any processes effecting yields are targeted as potential projects to be examined.
  • Processes are conceived, proposed, developed, and implemented that support Coherent strategic objectives.
  • Manufacturing Process Support and Quality control (30%)
  • Lead engineer, technician team to review SPC data. Base on quality feedback and suggest renewing, replacing, or changing process control parameters.
  • Work with internal experts, suppliers & manufacturers to do trouble shooting and fix process, quality, and machine issues.
  • Monitor and control changes affecting to quality or requesting QRB approval.
  • Provide coaching, training to team for solving problem on time and select right solutions to make sure continuous production.
  • Address problem notes and ISO/Customer audit findings immediately.
  • Products/ Processes Development/ Realization (20%)
  • Research and contact with internal/external technical experts and suppliers/manufacturers to develop to implement products/processes development projects.
  • Set up DOE or testing matrix to improve process reliability, Cp, Cpk.
  • Support NPT, NPI team in running prototypes, developing new products or processes.
  • Documentation and Human Resource (5%)
  • Control and make sure tasks and improvement activities to be closed on time and achieve targets.
  • Prepare documentation and provide best practice training, technical seminars to all level of organization.
  • A manufacturing environment is fostered that is focused on developing personnel and individual growth by cross training.
  • SMART goals are set and evaluated upon each year.
  • Actively participate in compulsory and recommended training sessions.
  • Responsible for maintaining Quality Work Environment housekeeping standards for own work area and community areas.
  • Follow company policy regarding safe work environment.
  • Special Projects (5%)
  • Support modifying/updating data management system and BOM /routing in Glovia if requested.
  • Support production team to train technical subjects for line leads.
  • Support special projects if requested.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor/Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Materials Science/Engineering Master's Degree in relevant fields is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of applicable experience in one or more of the fields of education listed above in manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of setting up manufacturing facilities, including equipment design, procurement, facilities, and training.

Skills

  • Experience in process improvement, trouble shooting and equipment management.
  • Hands on and very direct approach to problems and demands from production.
  • Ability to anticipate and handle multiple priorities and complex/abstract issues involving external and internal priorities under time constraints.
  • Handle special assignments promptly and professionally.
  • Ability to excel in a cross-organizational, cross-cultural, global team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with differences of opinions, to influence and draw ideas from others, and to negotiate and mediate.
  • Total Quality management experience
  • Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency.
  • Technical research and report skill
  • Demonstrated ability of managing projects, coaching people and achieving results through working with others.
  • Good knowledge of problem solving and process improvement.
  • Proficient computer skills, experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoin, Access data base, Email, internet access

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to some of chemicals, noise, machine operating conditions in manufacturing and lab environment
