This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong emphasis on Databricks and Lakehouse architecture. You will be responsible for developing reliable data pipelines, optimizing data processing workflows, and supporting data platform modernization initiatives.

The role requires an experienced engineer who can work independently, take ownership of technical deliverables, and collaborate effectively with international teams in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Data Platform & Pipeline Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions using Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, and Data Lakehouse technologies.
  • Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver data across multiple business domains.
  • Develop robust data processing solutions using Python, SQL, and Apache Spark.
  • Implement and maintain Databricks workflows, Delta Live Tables (DLT), metadata-driven frameworks, and data orchestration processes.

Data Platform Modernization

  • Support data platform migration and modernization initiatives, including Unity Catalog adoption, platform upgrades, and architectural transformations.
  • Collaborate with Data Architects and platform engineering teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, Lakehouse principles, and data governance requirements.

Data Quality, Performance & Reliability

  • Ensure data quality, reliability, performance, and security across the data platform.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures.
  • Contribute to CI/CD practices, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and operational improvements.
  • Optimize data pipelines, storage structures, and processing workloads to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Collaboration & Engineering Excellence

  • Work closely with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in architecture and solution reviews, promoting engineering standards and data governance principles.
  • Support reporting, analytics, and AI/ML initiatives through reliable and scalable data infrastructure.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing, mentoring, and technical development within the engineering team.
Requirements
Must Have
  • At least 5 years of hands-on commercial experience working with Databricks.

  • Good understanding of Lakehouse architecture and modern data engineering practices.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and working with Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation, monitoring, and logging.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and business teams.
  • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Availability to work in alignment with the EU time zone.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in data platform migration and modernization projects, including Unity Catalog adoption and platform upgrades.
  • Experience developing metadata-driven data processing frameworks.
