Our global development center in Vietnam is looking for talented people to build the next generation of these products. JTL Shop 6.0 is a new, cloud-native multi-shop SaaS platform: headless, API-first, built on Microsoft Azure, and closely integrated with the JTL ERP Cloud as the leading cloud ERP system. The goal is a scalable, economically operable platform that lets growth-oriented merchants run multiple shops, brands, and markets from a single backend. To build this platform – from architecture through MVP launch – we are assembling a new, interdisciplinary project team.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you design and develop the backend services for the core areas of JTL Shop 6.0: catalog, orders, payments, and the integration with the JTL ERP Cloud. You define API boundaries, ensure reliable data synchronization, and optimize the system for performance and scalability.

This role is part of the interdisciplinary JTL Shop 6.0 project team (Tech Lead, Product Owner/Project Manager, UI/UX, Frontend, Backend, DevOps, QA) and works in short, agile cycles with clear definition-of-done and review processes.

YOUR EXCITING TASKS

• Design and develop the backend services for the core areas of JTL Shop 6.0 (catalog, orders, payments, JTL ERP Cloud integration)
• Define API boundaries and ensure consistent, scalable communication between services
• Own reliable data synchronization between the JTL ERP Cloud and the platform, including error handling and recovery mechanisms
• Optimize systems for performance and scalability (caching, asynchronous processing, read/write optimization)
• Establish observability standards (logging, monitoring, alerting) across all backend services
• Conduct code reviews, promote best practices, and support less experienced team members
  
  

YOUR PROFILE AND YOUR PERSONALITY

• Several years of experience (typically 5+ years) in backend development, including proven experience in a senior role
• Strong knowledge of Node.js with TypeScript, or a comparable modern backend stack
• Experience in API design (REST, ideally also GraphQL) and database design/optimization (PostgreSQL or similar) and designing microservices
• Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g. Kafka, Azure Service Bus) and caching strategies (Redis)
• Solid knowledge of authentication/authorization (OAuth2, JWT, session management)
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure (Azure knowledge is required) and K8S
• Experience integrating external systems, ideally ERP systems or payment gateways
• Personal competencies
• Clean, maintainable engineering with an eye for scalability and operations
• Independent, structured way of working, even on complex integration topics
• Enjoys helping build a system from the ground up rather than maintaining legacy code
• Team orientation and willingness to share knowledge
  

Nice To Have

• Experience connecting cloud ERP systems, ideally the JTL ERP Cloud or similar
• Knowledge of observability tools (e.g. Azure Monitor)
• Experience building multi-tenant/multi-shop backends
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) in daily work
