Quality Engineer Automation-Focused

About the Role

We're looking for a Quality Engineer who goes beyond UI testing scripts. Roughly 60% of your time goes into building and owning automated tests across API, Web, and Mobile; the remaining 40% into risk-based exploratory testing of complex business flows. You'll analyze system flows, read logs, understand code logic, and proactively identify issues before they reach production. This role is about engineering quality into our AI-assisted solutions for New Retail.

Key ResponsibilitiesTest Automation (60%)

•      Build, own, and evolve the automation framework for regression across API, Web, and Mobile

•      Decide what to automate and what stays manual — based on run frequency, stability, and maintenance cost

•      Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines and keep them fast, reliable, and trustworthy

•      Investigate and eliminate flaky tests; maintain a pass rate the team can actually act on

•      Design test data setup/teardown and mocking strategies for multi-service scenarios

•      Report automation coverage and results to dev, product, and release stakeholders

Quality Engineering & Analysis

•      Analyze end-to-end business flows across App, Web, Admin, and Backend systems

•      Read and interpret system logs to identify root causes

•      Understand code logic and flow to support debugging and risk assessment

•      Unearth issues in the early stage of development

Manual & Exploratory Testing (40%)

•      Design and maintain test cases using risk-based approach, not just happy paths

•      Perform thorough regression testing and verify complex issues

•      Handle data-related, business logic, and multi-service integration testing

•      Prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities across multiple projects

Collaboration & Process

•      Trace bugs, analyze root causes, and work closely with developers

•      Review requirements and designs to identify quality risks early

•      Share automation practices, review test code, and mentor teammates on automated testing

•      Document testing processes and maintain knowledge base

Requirements

•      3-4+ years of experience in QC/QA/QE roles, including at least 2 years hands-on test automation

•      Ability to read and analyze system logs

•      Write and maintain test code in at least one language (Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#...) and read production code at logic/flow level

•      Hands-on with at least one automation framework (Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, pytest, RestAssured, or equivalent)

•      Experience running automated tests in a CI/CD pipeline (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions...)

•      Understanding of system architecture at service/API level

•      Quality Engineering mindset — not just UI checklist testing

•      Strong analytical skills with proactive root cause investigation

•      Effective communication with dev, product, and ops teams

•      Experience with Agile/Scrum environment

Nice to Have

•      Experience with mobile automation on real devices — device farm or self-hosted device lab

•      Experience designing an automation framework from scratch (page object model, test data management, reporting)

•      Experience with log monitoring systems
