Job Title: Technical Project Manager (Mobile, Web, & Backend)
Type: Full-time
Location: Ho Chi Minh City (On-site)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Project Manager (TPM) to drive the execution of complex, high-impact initiatives across our mobile, web, and backend engineering teams, with a strong emphasis on UI/UX design and mobile app development. This role is critical for our success, sitting at the intersection of technical architecture, product strategy, UI/UX excellence, and project execution. You will be responsible for ensuring our cross-functional teams are aligned, our technical projects are delivered on time, and risks are proactively managed.
The ideal candidate is a master of both technology and process, with deep expertise in mobile app experiences and UI/UX principles. You are deeply organized, technically fluent, and thrive on orchestrating the work of talented engineers, product managers, UI/UX designers, and DevOps specialists in a fast-paced environment. You excel at translating product concepts into actionable wireframes to bridge the gap between ideation and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Project Planning & Execution
- Partner with product managers, engineering leads, and UI/UX designers to translate product requirements into detailed technical specifications, user stories, wireframes, and actionable project plans.
- Define project scope, technical dependencies, deliverables, and timelines for complex projects spanning mobile (iOS/Android) apps with a focus on seamless user experiences, web interfaces, and backend services.
- Develop and maintain detailed project roadmaps, manage technical backlogs, and forecast resource needs, incorporating UI/UX iterations and mobile-specific considerations.
- Manage the full technical project lifecycle from architectural design, wireframing, and initiation to deployment and post-launch support.
- Track and report on key technical metrics, project velocity, milestones, and KPIs, including UI/UX performance indicators like user engagement and satisfaction.
Agile & Workflow Management
- Lead Agile ceremonies, including technical grooming sessions, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, ensuring technical and UI/UX discussions are productive and focused.
- Identify and remove blockers for the engineering and design teams, protecting them from external distractions and context-switching.
- Champion and refine Agile best practices tailored to a technical development environment, with an emphasis on iterative UI/UX feedback loops.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Act as the primary technical delivery owner, coordinating daily work between frontend (mobile/web), UI/UX design, backend, data, and DevOps teams.
- Facilitate technical and design discussions, ensuring architectural decisions are sound, scalable, user-centric, and aligned with business goals.
- Manage the integration of third-party APIs, vendor technologies, and external development partners, while incorporating UI/UX best practices for mobile apps.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
- Serve as the key communication bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Clearly articulate project status, technical challenges, trade-offs, UI/UX decisions, and risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation in tools like Notion, Linear, and wireframing platforms (e.g., Figma, Sketch).
Risk & Dependency Management
- Proactively identify technical risks, cross-team dependencies, UI/UX challenges, and architectural issues in mobile app development.
- Drive mitigation strategies, facilitate technical and design problem-solving, and ensure timely escalations to prevent delays.
Requirements
- 5+ years of project management experience, with at least 4 years in a technical project manager (TPM) or senior engineering manager role within a technology company.
- Proven experience managing the full software development lifecycle for mobile applications (iOS & Android) with a strong focus on user-centric design, modern web applications, and backend API services.
- Strong working knowledge of system architecture, APIs, microservices, databases, cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP), and UI/UX principles for mobile and web platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to create wireframes and prototypes from product concepts to guide development and ensure intuitive user experiences.
- Expert-level understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and their application in a technical, multi-team environment, including UI/UX integration.
- Exceptional ability to facilitate technical and design discussions and translate complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Mastery of project management software (e.g., Jira, Linear) and design tools for wireframing (e.g., Figma, Sketch).
- Based in or willing to relocate to Ho Chi Minh City, with the flexibility to overlap with U.S. time zones for key meetings.
- Full professional proficiency in English (written and verbal).
Nice to Have
- A former background in software engineering, UI/UX design, QA, or DevOps.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and mobile app usability testing.
- Familiarity with performance monitoring, observability tools, and UI/UX analytics platforms.
- Scrum, PMP, or Agile certification (e.g., CSM, PMI-ACP).
