Role Description

Product Engineering

Track product specification changes on the production line: set up new product specifications, manage conversion data for changing specifications of existing products, and record information related to product specification changes on the production line (machine running parameters, speed, common errors and troubleshooting methods).
Organize and prepare the tools, equipment, and materials (related to machinery and equipment) needed for optimal product operation.
Understand the product (based on knowledge of equipment parameters, worker operations, etc.) in order to determine which machine a product should be run on and how. If a product is not running optimally, identify the root cause and troubleshoot.
Understand the output/performance of the equipment for each specific product type.
Advise Planning and Production Operations on adjusting the production plan to match equipment and machine conditions.
Train workers on how to set up product specifications and production processes.
Collaborate with relevant parties to resolve customer complaints

Process Engineering

Understand the strengths, weaknesses, and optimal operating range of the equipment in order to advise Product Development (currently R&D), Production Operations, and QC when developing new products or processes. Where related changes occur, advise all parties on monitoring underperforming equipment, identifying causes, and troubleshooting.
Determine optimal operating parameters for Production Operations, R&D, and QC so that these teams can provide appropriate operating guidance and control.
Understand the overall output/performance of the equipment.
Train workers on equipment operation.
Monitor equipment records, lifespan, wear and tear, etc., and work with Maintenance to plan equipment repairs. Responsible for equipment performance (as distinct from Production Operations, which is responsible for production performance) and troubleshooting.
Determine optimal operating parameters for Production Operations, R&D, and QC so that these teams can provide appropriate operating guidance and control.
Understand the overall output/performance of the equipment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Printing, Mechanical Engineering, Automation/Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles, operations, engineering, and materials.
Ability to evaluate situations based on data and real-world evidence to develop logical solutions.
Ability to understand the requirements of departments such as Production Operations, R&D, and QC, and translate them into machine operating parameters.
