PORT SAFETY & OPERATIONAL IMPROVEMENT SENIOR MANAGER

Role Description

• Act as the Management Team's principal adviser on port safety improvement, marine-interface risk, critical equipment safety, contractor control and operational risk governance.
• Exercise stop-work authority for any activity presenting imminent danger, uncontrolled critical risk, breach of an approved operating envelope, or absence of required permits, competencies or safeguards.
• Require a documented method statement, risk assessment, permit and competent approval before non-routine or safety-critical work proceeds.
• Independently verify closure and effectiveness of corrective actions before recommending return to service or resumption of affected operations.
• Escalate material risks, repeated non-conformities, delayed actions and conflicts between production pressure and safety requirements to the executive sponsor and Group OHS.
• Participate in port planning, vessel acceptance, maintenance shutdown, change-management and capital-project decisions where safety or operational continuity may be affected.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Maritime Navigational Studies, Marine Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
• Experience: Minimum 12+ years in ocean-going vessels, ports, terminals, or heavy industry, including 5+ years in a senior safety or operational leadership role.
• Preferred Profile:Master Mariner (Ocean-going Vessel Captain) strongly preferred; relevant certifications (NEBOSH Diploma, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, CSP) are a plus.
• Technical Expertise: Strong practical knowledge of ship-shore interface, cargo handling, cranes/unloaders, lifting operations, LOTO, confined spaces, and incident investigations.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of Vietnamese maritime and occupational safety regulations; proven ability to liaise with maritime authorities.
• Languages: Professional fluency in English and Vietnamese.
