Legal Counsel

Company Description Alba Renewables is a Brookfield Renewable Platform business dedicated to the energy transition in Southeast Asia. The company develops utility-scale solar, onshore wind, and battery energy storage projects designed to support the region's growing energy demand and accelerating energy transition.

Role Description The Legal Counsel will act as a legal generalist supporting the Group General Counsel in delivering the full range of legal services to Alba Renewables Vietnam operations, while also taking primary ownership of the risk and compliance function for the country.

This role covers corporate, commercial, employment, and dispute matters, together with support on project development and M&A activity as needed, alongside the design and day-to-day management of a risk and compliance framework covering regulatory compliance, anti-bribery and corruption, data protection, and internal policy. The position requires a versatile, hands-on lawyer who is comfortable moving between broad generalist legal support and a dedicated risk and compliance mandate, with sound knowledge of Vietnamese law and experience working with cross-border, multinational teams.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer, licensed to practice law in Vietnam (admitted to the Vietnam Bar Federation/Association); an additional overseas qualification is an advantage.
• Strong foundation in Law, with knowledge of corporate, commercial, and energy sector regulations.
• Minimum 7+ years of post-qualification experience as a generalist, with broad exposure across corporate, commercial, employment, dispute matters, and energy sector regulations.
• Demonstrated experience in Contract Negotiation and handling contractual disputes and amendments.
• Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting agreements, memoranda, and corporate documents.
• Demonstrated experience in risk and compliance management, such as designing or implementing compliance frameworks, anti-bribery/AML programs, or data protection compliance.
• Ability to identify, analyze, and manage Legal Issues across multiple jurisdictions and project stages.
• Experience providing clear, business-focused Legal Advice to cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Experience in general corporate and commercial legal support, project development and/or M&A exposure (an advantage, given the renewable energy business), DPPA negotiations
• Strong understanding of Vietnamese regulatory frameworks across corporate, labor, investment, and compliance matters.
• Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or project finance is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multicultural teams.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• High level of integrity, sound judgment, and ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in English; Vietnamese language skills are an advantage.
