We're Hiring: Leader (Head) of Legal & Compliance – Vietnam

About the Role

We are looking for a talented, solutions-oriented lawyer to lead our legal and compliance strategy across Vietnam. Based in Hanoi (with regular travel to Danang and Ho Chi Minh City), you won't just be reviewing contracts—you will be a vital strategic partner to our leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Strategic Partner: Provide premier legal support to our Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR, Supply Chain, and Business Development teams.
• Drive Business Forward: Navigate general corporate matters, M&As, regulatory issues, new business models, and product development initiatives.
• Safeguard Our Future: Protect LIXIL's intellectual property, manage pre-litigation disputes, and handle complex commercial relationship issues.
• Lead on Compliance: Champion corporate governance, compliance matters, and lead internal investigations when necessary.
• Collaborate Globally: Partner with stakeholders across the organization, including our Japanese parent company, APAC HQs, and country-level leaders.
• Build & Mentor: Manage a dedicated local team (Legal & Compliance Leader and Executive) and oversee outside counsel.
• Negotiate & Draft: Take the lead on critical commercial contracts, including supply agreements, distribution agreements, and marketing campaigns.

Qualifications

• Degree in Law from a leading university/law school required.
• Licensed to practice law in Vietnam and the US, UK or other common law jurisdiction.

Required Skills

• 12+ years of commercial legal or private practice experience. Relevant in-house experience in an MNC or a large law firm will also be considered.
• The ideal candidate will have strong commercial contract and general corporate or dispute resolution experience as well as an in-depth understanding of Vietnamese law, regulations and practices – bonus if the candidate has special knowledge and experience in a particular area of law (e.g., employment, data privacy, etc.).
• A client-focused approach embodying an understanding of the demands of the business and ability to deliver user-friendly advice and support promptly, coupled with a proactive and ambitious nature with a desire to help find solutions.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and presentation ability.
• Maturity and the ability to make decisions and exercise discretionary authority necessary to perform job duties successfully.
• Written and verbal fluency in English and Vietnamese.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across time zones.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
