Hybrid - PHP Developer (Laravel & Zend, 6 months)

We are looking for a PHP Backend Developer who will work fulltime in Hybrid mode (2 days a week in the office) with the ODC team in Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City & Colleagues from Denmark. You will work on the backend of our software platform for the Transport & Logistics industry.

The job is 6 months in duration, with possibility to extend to a full contract.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services using Laravel and Zend Framework.
• Build and extend REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Understand existing business logic and refactor it into clean, well-structured and testable code.
• Write and maintain unit tests with PHPUnit to keep code quality high.
• Develop background jobs, queues and scheduled tasks.
• Optimise database queries and application performance, and help keep production stable.
• Take part in code reviews, estimation and the full development lifecycle, and report progress to the project manager.

Qualifications - Must have

• At least 4 years of experience in PHP backend development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Laravel (Eloquent, service container, middleware, queues, migrations).
• Strong experience with Zend Framework and Doctrine ORM.
• Comfortable working across PHP 7.x and newer versions.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL performance tuning.
• Solid unit testing skills with PHPUnit (mocks, fakes, test doubles).
• Good understanding of clean architecture: repositories, use cases, dependency injection, SOLID.
• Hands-on experience designing REST and GraphQL APIs, and working with Git on Linux.
• Good communication skills in English, written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Docker and Kubernetes; AWS (EC2, S3, RDS).
• Nginx, WebSocket, message queues and background workers.
• Using AI tools for development.
• Domain experience in transport, logistics.
