Head of Sourcing, Quality and Compliance

Position Overview

Transformer Table is hiring a Head of Sourcing, Quality & Compliance to own product cost, quality standards, and regulatory compliance for everything the company makes and ships.

This executive owns sourcing for all finished goods, sub components, and raw materials; the quality specifications those materials must meet; and the safety and regulatory compliance of every product shipped to Transformer Table, in every market it sells.

Reports directly to the CEO. Based in Vietnam. Company-wide scope at the VP level, spanning the Vietnam manufacturing facility, external suppliers across Southeast Asia, and the North American commercial teams that depend on both.

The role treats cost and quality as one system, not a trade-off. The lowest cost supplier only counts if the product meets or exceeds Transformer Table quality specifications. Every dollar of landed cost and every warranty claim runs through this desk.

Strategic Opportunity

Transformer Table is scaling from $140M to $210M this year while expanding into new categories. Gross margin and brand reputation both depend on what happens at the source: what we pay, what we accept, and what we ship.

Key priorities include:

• Securing the lowest available cost on every finished good, sub component, and raw material without giving an inch on quality specifications
• Making Transformer Robotics the default producer for everything it can build, provided it is the lowest cost supplier, and holding it to the same bar as any outside vendor
• Building a sourcing platform the whole organization uses to confirm we are getting the best available price on finished goods, sub components, and raw materials
• Driving warranty claims, shipping damage, and manufacturing issues toward zero through specification and process changes
• Keeping every product compliant with the safety, labeling, and regulatory requirements of every country we ship to

Core Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

• Own sourcing strategy and execution for all finished goods, sub components, and raw materials made for Transformer Table
• Find, qualify, and negotiate with suppliers across Vietnam and Southeast Asia; benchmark pricing continuously so no incumbent gets comfortable
• Run make-versus-buy discipline: production goes to Transformer Robotics whenever it can build the product and is the lowest cost supplier at spec
• Treat quality specifications as the entry ticket; no supplier wins on price while missing spec
• Manage supplier contracts, payment terms, and total landed cost including packaging, freight, and duty

Sourcing Platform & Cost Intelligence

• Develop and implement a sourcing platform used across the organization to verify best available pricing on all finished goods, sub components, and raw materials
• Build and maintain should-cost models and price benchmarks by category, component, and material
• Report savings and cost variances against plan; partner with finance on standard costs and margin forecasting

Quality Standards & Specifications

• Design and own quality specifications and standards for all raw materials, sub components, and finished goods
• Set inbound inspection standards and acceptance criteria for every supplier, including Transformer Robotics
• Revise specifications based on field data, warranty claims, and factory findings; specs are living documents, not filing cabinet artifacts

Quality Systems & Warranty Reduction

• Build quality control systems that trace every warranty claim back to its source: the supplier, the production lot, and the process step
• Lead changes in production processes and quality standard revisions to eliminate warranty claims, shipping damage, and manufacturing issues
• Own the quality scorecard: defect rates, claim rates by SKU, inspection pass rates, and total cost of quality
• Lead and develop the existing Vietnam-based quality control team; raise inspection capability to match category expansion

Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance

• Own all safety and regulatory compliance for every product produced for and shipped to Transformer Table
• Manage country-specific requirements including law labeling, carton label requirements, safety standards, and mandatory testing across all markets
• Manage third-party testing labs, certifications, and compliance documentation from factory floor to customs
• Stay ahead of regulatory changes in furniture and home categories, including formaldehyde emissions, flammability, stability, and packaging rules, so compliance never becomes a launch blocker

Cross Functional Leadership

• Partner with the CEO, COO, merchandising, and Transformer Robotics leadership on product cost, capacity, and new product introduction
• Give the commercial teams reliable cost and compliance answers early enough to shape pricing and launch decisions
• Build scalable sourcing, quality, and compliance processes capable of supporting long-term global growth
• Foster a culture of accountability, direct feedback, and continuous improvement

Ideal Executive Profile

The ideal candidate has led sourcing and quality for a furniture or case goods manufacturer or brand operating at scale in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, with a deep, current supplier network across wood, metal, hardware, foam, and packaging.

This executive is as comfortable on the factory floor as at the negotiating table. Reads a spec sheet and a cost breakdown with equal ease, and knows when a supplier quote hides cost or quality risk.

Direct and accountable. Holds suppliers and internal teams to commitments without burning relationships. States the miss before committing to the fix.

Working knowledge of North American furniture compliance requirements is expected. English fluency required; Vietnamese capability is a strong plus given the supplier base and factory teams.

Location & Structure

• Based in Vietnam, working from the Transformer Robotics facility and supplier sites
• Reports directly to the CEO
• Inherits the existing Vietnam quality control team; builds out the sourcing and compliance functions
• Regular travel across Vietnam and Southeast Asia for supplier development; periodic travel to the Montreal headquarters
