Job Description

We are a Vietnamese diagnostics provider performing 3.5M+ tests a year, growing 50% year on year. We're hiring a Head of Laboratory to run our central laboratory — and grow it. Reports directly to our Chairman. Full ownership: quality, people, numbers, growth.

What you'll own

ISO 15189:2022 accreditation and quality system
Laboratory P&L, budget, cost per test, supplier negotiation
Test menu strategy — what we add, the business case, delivery
Approximately 80 staff across 7 sections
Turnaround time, accuracy and rejection rates across 40+ collection sites

Who we want

First choice: a doctor (medical degree, laboratory medicine or pathology specialisation). Also open to a senior laboratory leader without one, at chief or department-head grade, with a strong record.
Commercial: real profit and loss and negotiation experience, not just technical strength
Hands-on: you know your department end to end, not through reports alone
8+ years leading clinical laboratory operations, 3+ at comparable scale
Multi-site or network laboratory experience a strong plus
Professional working English

Good to know

No Vietnamese practising certificate required — sign-off sits permanently with our licensed pathologist, the same structure under which our previous Head of Laboratory operated. Full authority from day one, no waiting period.

We recognise qualifications from across Asia on their own terms — a medical or a laboratory-science route, whichever you hold:

Philippines — Philippine Board of Pathology, or RMT with senior lab management experience
India — MD/DNB in Pathology, or M.Sc./Ph.D. at chief technologist grade
China — Chief Physician or Chief Technologist grade
Singapore — SMC pathology specialist, or Senior/Consultant AHPC-registered technologist
Malaysia — MPath, or senior/chief technologist under the Allied Health Professions Act
Elsewhere — recognised national board, or ASCP/IBMS at chief grade

Strongest signal either way: time trained or practising in Singapore's CAP/JCI system, or in a major private laboratory chain (Agilus, Dr Lal, Metropolis, Thyrocare in India).
