About the Role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer with strong production experience in Go and practical AWS experience. You will own backend features from understanding the business problem through implementation, deployment, and ongoing improvement.

You will work closely with Product, Design, Frontend, and QA to make engineering decisions grounded in merchant needs. We value engineers who ask why a feature matters, choose practical solutions, and follow through on how their work performs in production.

Our core stack includes Go, AWS, Kafka, MongoDB, and Kubernetes.

I. What You Will Do

• Build and maintain Go services, APIs, and integrations that support the product's features and data workflows.
• Own the design and implementation of backend modules. Discuss trade-offs with the team and contribute to broader architecture decisions.
• Develop reliable asynchronous workflows, including web-hook and event processing, with appropriate handling of retries, duplicate events, and failures.
• Monitor services and investigate production issues using logs, metrics, and profiling. Improve latency, memory usage, database performance, and infrastructure efficiency.
• Write maintainable, well-tested code. Participate in code reviews, document key decisions, and follow consistent Git and commit practices.
• Propose improvements based on user problems and operational evidence, then check whether the changes deliver the intended result.
• Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code to support development, testing, and documentation while taking responsibility for correctness and security.
• Review teammates pull requests for correctness, concurrency safety, performance, maintainability, and test coverage. Provide clear, actionable feedback and work with authors to resolve issues before merging.

II. Your Skills and Experience

* Required qualifications

• 3+ years of professional Go development experience, with Go used substantially in your recent backend work.
• Strong Go fundamentals, including goroutines, channels, synchronization, and memory management. You can explain how you have applied these concepts and investigated performance or reliability problems.
• Practical AWS experience building, deploying, and operating backend services. You can explain which services you used, your direct responsibilities, and how you monitored or troubleshot them.
• Experience developing REST APIs, working with databases, and writing automated tests, with attention to data correctness and maintainability.
• Clear ownership of previous work and the ability to explain its impact on users, reliability, performance, or cost, with evidence where available.
• A product mindset: you seek to understand the problem, discuss trade-offs openly, and stay involved after release to improve the outcome.
• Ability to independently review teammates Go code, identify potential bugs and design trade-offs, and explain feedback constructively.

* Preferred experience

• Kafka or similar messaging systems; MongoDB data modeling and query optimization; Docker and Kubernetes.
• AWS Lambda and serverless application development.
• System design, distributed systems, or SaaS and e-commerce integrations.
• For Senior candidates, we additionally expect experience guiding technical decisions, reviewing designs, and mentoring engineers so the team can deliver more independently.
