We are hiring: German Teacher
Job Description
Instructing German courses for Bachelor and Master students from pre-intermediate to advanced levels.
Main and regular responsibilities
- Teaching German from level A1 to B2 to Bachelor and Master students and industries which are partners of VGU when required.
- Teaching German communicative skills to VGU's faculty and staff.
- Developing teaching materials, administering tests, and grading papers.
- Performing formative and summative assessments of students during the semester, including proctoring examinations for own courses and other LCFY-organized courses as assigned by the supervisor or the Department Manager.
- Filling out teaching and learning profiles (after having instructed a class).
- Updating existing curriculum and syllabus and developing new ones for new courses.
Periodic/ Irregular responsibilities
- Sharing teaching experiences and new knowledge in the field with colleagues.
- Observing annual entrance exams (for full-time instructors only).
- Training and/or mentoring new German instructors.
- Participating in periodic meetings with instructors in the specialized unit that he/she belongs to.
Other duties
- Coordinating German courses in the foundation year, when assigned.
- Contributing to professional affairs in the specialized unit.
- Conducting research to improve teaching practices, if possible.
Job Requirements
Qualification
- Master's degree in Linguistics, German Language, or German as a Foreign Language (DaF) required. However, candidates holding a Bachelor's degree with substantial relevant practical experience may also be considered.
- Candidates holding a recognized certificate in Teaching German as a Foreign Language are preferred.
Knowledge
- Experiences of German language teaching.
Skills
- Excellent in all German skills and good interpersonal skills.
- Good German communication skill.
Experience
- Minimum of one year of teaching experience as a German instructor, preferably with adult learners and/or university students.
- Prior experience in test formatting based on the Goethe Institute's standards is an advantage.
Behaviors required

- Open and willing to collaborate with other faculty and staff members at VGU and to work together with people from different cultural backgrounds.

Other requirements
Candidates with the following experiences will be favored:
- Instructing German language.
- Curriculum and syllabus development.
- Prospective instructors are required to teach an average of 24 periods/week and have to be present on main campus up to five days/week.
- Work location: Vietnamese – German University, Ring Road 4, Quarter 4, Thoi Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City (Old address: Ben Cat City, Binh Duong).
- Working time: Mon - Fri, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
