About the job

Key ResponsibilitiesFunctional Safety Architecture

  • Define, develop, and maintain functional safety concepts and architectures across system, hardware, software, and control domains.
  • Translate safety goals into technical safety requirements and ensure their allocation across all relevant subsystems.
  • Support system architecture decisions to ensure compliance with functional safety objectives throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Safety Analysis & Risk ManagementLead hazard identification and risk assessment activities, including:
  • Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA)
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMEDA)
  • Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
  • Develop and maintain critical safety work products, including:
  • Safety Plans
  • Functional and Technical Safety Concepts
  • Safety Requirements Specifications
  • Safety Cases
  • Verification and Validation Reports
  • Ensure traceability between hazards, safety requirements, implementation, and verification activities.
  • Compliance & CertificationEnsure compliance with applicable functional safety and machinery safety standards, including:
  • IEC 61508
  • IEC 62061
  • ISO 13849
  • ISO 10218
  • Relevant Machinery Regulations and Directives
  • Support internal audits, external assessments, certification activities, and interactions with regulatory and notified bodies.
  • Provide safety evidence and documentation required for product certifications.
  • Cross-Functional CollaborationCollaborate with System Engineering, Embedded Software, Hardware, Controls, and Verification teams to define and validate safety-critical functions.
  • Facilitate safety reviews and technical discussions across multidisciplinary development teams.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship on functional safety best practices throughout the organization.
  • Continuous Improvement & InnovationContribute to the development and enhancement of functional safety processes, methodologies, and engineering guidelines.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies such as AI-based perception systems, autonomous navigation, and advanced human-robot interaction from a functional safety perspective.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen organizational safety capability and maturity.
  • Qualifications & ExperienceMaster's degree in Robotics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related field; TÜV Functional Safety Engineer (FSE) certification is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in Functional Safety Engineering within robotics, industrial automation, automotive, or other safety-critical industries.
  • Strong knowledge of IEC 61508, IEC 62061, ISO 13849, and ISO 10218; familiarity with ISO 26262 and SOTIF (ISO/PAS 21448)
  • Hands-on experience with safety lifecycle execution, safety analysis (HARA, FMEA/FMEDA, FTA), safety requirements engineering, and compliance activities.
  • Experience using safety and requirements management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, or Codebeamer.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Safety requirements are traceable, verified, and consistently implemented across disciplines.
