About the Role

Overall Job Purpose We are SCC – Specialist Computer Centres – Europe's leading provider of IT services and solutions. An opportunity has presented itself for an experienced Software Developer to join an exciting and challenging cloud-based projects. This role is a great opportunity for a Software Engineer looking to grow their career. We are looking for a full-stack developer who will be responsible for developing and maintaining cloud-based applications and services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Architects, Product Owners, Testers and other developers, under the Scrum methodology to deliver product increments in line with defined Sprint goals, ensuring they meet both functional and non-functional requirements (such as scalability, reliability, and security). The role also involves supporting the development team and working as a link between architecture and development, solving problems and helping to remove blockers so the team can run as efficiently as possible.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement cloud-based applications and services.
• Ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of cloud solutions.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including domain architects and solution architects, to develop and refine cloud solutions.
• Implement and maintain security best practices for cloud applications.
• Stay updated with the latest cloud technologies and trends, such as serverless and microservices, to drive innovation.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud solutions.
• Identify and resolve issues related to cloud applications and services.
• Conduct thorough testing to ensure the quality and performance of cloud solutions.
• Continuously improve cloud solutions based on feedback and performance metrics.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Ensure that the team is working collaboratively and effectively and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Ability to create proof of concepts to influence decision making.
• Leading the development team to ensure that the work is being delivered to a high-quality standard.

Required Skills

• Minimum 3 - 4 years of working experience in software development.
• Good knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), with a strong preference for AWS. A related qualification such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate or equivalent is an advantage.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: TypeScript, Python, or C#/.NET. Experience with TypeScript is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical solutions.
• Good communication and collaboration skills when working with globally distributed teams.
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Familiarity with Agile methodology and the Scrum framework in the software development process.
• Willingness to learn new technologies, with a proactive approach to researching and selfstudying new domains such as generative AI, ML, Data Analytics and Data Warehouse.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team across multiple locations.
• Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with serverless architectures on AWS (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, EventBridge).
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, X-Ray) and basic incident troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of cloud security fundamentals, including IAM least privilege, AWS WAF and secrets management.
• Experience with containerization using Docker, and familiarity with ECS or EKS.
• Experience writing reusable Terraform modules and using static analysis tools (e.g., Checkov, tflint).
• Basic knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning services on cloud (e.g., Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker).
• Relevant cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate, Developer Associate or SysOps Administrator Associate.
