Engineering Manager

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the team behind our driver platform — the systems that match, dispatch, price, and pay millions of rides. You'll own delivery, people, and technical direction for backend services operating at real-time scale, partnering with Product, Data, Mobile, and Operations to keep drivers earning and riders moving.

What you'll do:

• Lead, coach, and grow a team of 6–10 backend engineers; own hiring, performance, and career development.
• Own the roadmap and delivery for core ride-hailing systems: driver supply, real-time location, pricing/surge and co-driver agent & incentives.
• Set technical direction with senior engineers — architecture reviews, reliability standards, and pragmatic trade-offs between speed and quality.
• Guarantee reliability at scale: SLOs, on-call health, incident response, and capacity planning for peak-hour traffic on AWS.
• Partner with Product and Operations to translate marketplace goals (ETA, receive order rate, driver earnings) into engineering outcomes.
• Embed security and data protection into every service — driver PII and location data demand it.
• Raise the engineering bar through design reviews, mentoring, and a healthy, accountable team culture.

Our tech stack:

- Languages: Go (primary), Rust/Java for selected services

- Data: PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka for event streaming

- Geo & real-time: gRPC, H3 geo-indexing

- Infra: AWS (EKS/ECS, ALB/ELB), Kubernetes, Terraform, Gitlab CI/CD

- Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, distributed tracing

- Data platform: Built-in/Flink pipelines feeding and marketplace analytics

Must-have requirements:

• 8+ years in software engineering, including 2+ years managing backend teams.
• Strong backend foundation — Go preferred (Rust/Java a plus) — with credibility in design discussions.
• Experience running high-traffic, real-time distributed systems (SQL + NoSQL, event-driven architectures, AWS).
• Track record of delivering cross-functional projects with Product, Mobile, DevOps, and Data teams.
• Solid grasp of security fundamentals: secure coding, auth, and sensitive-data handling.
• Proven people leadership: hiring, feedback, and developing senior engineers.
• Nice to have
• Ride-hailing, logistics, delivery, or other marketplace/geo-spatial product experience.
• Systems serving 1M+ concurrent users and comfort with high-volume data pipelines and experimentation.
• Experience with incident management and SRE practices at scale.
• Knowledge client-side integration, security adaption, app performance.
