Engineering Manager

Position Summary

You lead an engineering squad end-to-end: people, delivery, and technical direction. You balance hands-on technical judgment with people leadership, are accountable for the team's delivery predictability, and are the person a client escalates to when something needs a real answer, not just a status update.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a team of engineers: career development, 1:1s, and performance feedback.
• Partner with Product and Design to translate the roadmap into an executable engineering plan.
• Own team-level delivery: sprint planning, unblocking, and escalation management.
• Guide key technical decisions and architecture trade-offs alongside senior engineers, without micromanaging.
• Build and protect engineering culture: code quality standards, testing discipline, healthy on-call rotations.
• Hire, onboard, and mentor engineers, including evaluating candidates matched from the Talent Ecosystem.
• Act as the primary escalation point for client-facing delivery issues within the squad.
  
  

Qualifications

• English: fluent with good verbal communication - runs client-facing escalations and status conversations directly, composed under pressure (non-negotiable).
• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 1-2+ years in a people-management or formal tech-lead role.
• Track record of shipping production systems and turning individual contributors into stronger engineers.
• Comfortable balancing hands-on technical judgment with people leadership - not a pure project coordinator.
• Experience running agile ceremonies and owning delivery predictability for a team, not just a project.
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional and client-facing conversations under pressure.
• Actively drives AI-assisted engineering as daily practice across the team: expects and supports AI coding assistants and AI-assisted workflows, not just permits them.
