Role OverviewWe are looking for an experienced EDI Architect with strong JD Edwards (JDE) expertise to lead the design and implementation of scalable, enterprise-grade EDI solutions for global clients.
This role goes beyond JDE configuration, focusing on end-to-end EDI architecture, integration strategy, partner ecosystem design, and solution governance across multiple platforms.
The ideal candidate will act as a solution owner for EDI architecture, ensuring alignment between business processes, JDE capabilities, and external trading partner requirements.
Key Responsibilities1. EDI Architecture & Solution Design- Define and own enterprise EDI architecture across JDE and external systems
- Design scalable, reusable EDI integration patterns (batch, near real-time, API-enabled EDI)
- Lead end-to-end solution design: from trading partner onboarding to production support
- Standardize mapping frameworks, data transformation logic, and validation rules
- Ensure compliance with X12 standards, partner-specific companion guides, and governance policies
2. JD Edwards Integration Architecture- Architect integration between JDE (EnterpriseOne) and EDI platforms
- Design and optimize:
- F47 interface tables
- R47 batch processing programs
- Flat file & staging architectures
- Define mapping between JDE business objects and EDI transaction flows
- Ensure correct handling of:
- Order lifecycle (Order → Acknowledgment → Shipment → Invoice)
- Pricing, inventory, and fulfillment rules
- Conduct fit-gap analysis between JDE standard and partner requirements
3. EDI Platform & Integration Landscape- Lead integration using EDI platforms such as:
- Cleo
- IBM Sterling
- Gentran / SPS Commerce
- Define architecture for:
- Message transformation & routing
- Envelope standards (ISA/GS, control numbers)
- Acknowledgements (997, TA1)
- Align EDI with modern integration ecosystems (API gateway, middleware, iPaaS) where needed
4. Trading Partner Management & Onboarding- Define and standardize partner onboarding frameworks
- Review and interpret companion guides (Walmart, Amazon, Whole Foods, etc.)
- Ensure seamless onboarding with minimum custom effort and high reusability
- Establish data validation, error handling, and monitoring mechanisms
5. Technical Leadership & Governance- Act as the architectural authority for EDI and integration design
- Provide guidance to:
- JDE Functional & Technical Consultants
- EDI Developers
- Define best practices, design patterns, and reusable components
- Review solution design, mapping documents, and integration flows
- Ensure system scalability, performance, and production stability
6. Stakeholder & Program Leadership- Engage directly with client stakeholders (especially US clients)
- Lead:
- Architecture discussions
- Design workshops
- Integration strategy meetings
- Manage cross-team dependencies across:
- ERP
- EDI platform
- External partners
- Identify risks and drive resolution across the delivery lifecycle
Required Skills & ExpertiseEDI & Integration (Core Focus)- Strong experience in EDI architecture (X12 standards)
- Deep knowledge of transactions:
- 850, 855, 810, 856, 860, 875, 880, 940, 945
- Expertise in:
- Envelope structure (ISA/GS segments)
- Control numbers and acknowledgements (997/TA1)
- Experience in at least one EDI platform:
- Cleo / IBM Sterling / SPS Commerce / Gentran
JD Edwards (Integration Context)- Strong experience in JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (9.x)
- Good understanding of:
- EDI module (F47 tables, R47 UBEs)
- OMW, batch jobs, processing options
- Data structures and JDE tables
- Ability to connect business flows ↔ system design ↔ EDI transactions
Architecture & Design Skills- Experience designing integration architectures across systems
- Knowledge of:
- Data mapping, transformation, and validation frameworks
- Integration patterns (batch, event-driven, API-based)
- Strong documentation skills:
- Solution Architecture Document (SAD)
- Integration Design Document (IDD)
- Mapping specifications
Experience & Qualifications- 10+ years in ERP / integration domain
- 5+ years in EDI architecture or large-scale EDI integration programs
- Proven experience leading end-to-end EDI implementations
- Experience working with global / US clients and trading partners
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or equivalent
