Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. FAO's goal is to achieve food security for all and ensure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. With 195 members - 194 countries and the European Union, FAO works in over 130 countries worldwide and has started working in Viet Nam since 1978 with its Representation (Country Office) opened in Ha Noi.
FAO is looking to recruit a Driver to provide safe, reliable and efficient transportation and logistical support to the Programme Team of FAO Viet Nam. The Driver will support the transportation needs of FAO personnel, officials, visitors and programme activities, including official missions, field travel, meetings and events. The position will contribute to the smooth and effective implementation of FAO operations by ensuring that vehicles are properly maintained, transportation arrangements are carried out efficiently, and all applicable safety, security and traffic regulations are strictly followed.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and under the day-to-day supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative (Admin).
Technical Focus
The Driver will provide safe and reliable driving services to support FAO Programme teams during official missions and field activities. The position will ensure the proper use and day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, compliance with FAO safety and security procedures and traffic regulations, and provision of basic logistical support related to mission travel.

Tasks And Responsibilities
Provide reliable and secure driving services:
- Drive FAO vehicles to transport Programme personnel during official missions, field visits, meetings, workshops and other programme-related activities;
- Pick up and drop off personnel at airports, hotels, meeting venues, field sites and other official locations (when required);
- Follow appropriate and safe routes and ensure timely arrival at destinations;
- Deliver and collect mail, documents and other items to Government – Offices/Embassies/Commercial Establishments/UN Offices (when required);
- Ensure that all passengers wear seatbelts at all times in the vehicles;
- Oversee and ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents;
- Adhere to relevant job specific guidelines and policies of FAO such as but not limited to the vehicle management policy;
- Oversee and ensure that all vehicles comply with the Security and Safety standard established at the duty station through Security Risk Management process.
- Ensure cost-saving by driving responsibly;
- Maintain daily vehicle logs, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil change, servicing, greasing, repairs and oversee that other drives do the same;
- Prepare and maintain data of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
- Ensure that all official vehicles are kept cleaned, washed and are always in good working condition;
- Make minor repairs and make arrangements for major repairs;
- Change oil, check tire tread depth and pressure, lights, indicators, wipers, horn, clutch and brakes and ensure that any errors of warning indicators on dashboard are inspected and addressed in timely manner;
- Arrange to complete winterization of office vehicles when this is required by local traffic regulations or when travel to areas that might be affected by snow is planned.
Minimum Requirements
- Completed high school diploma
- Valid driver's license
- At least three years of work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, local roads and conditions, and defensive driving skills
- Skill in minor vehicle repairs
- Working knowledge of English language (C1)
- National of Viet Nam or resident of the country with valid work permit
