Job Description

Role Overview

The role is responsible for leading and governing enterprise-wide IT architecture, ensuring that technology strategies and solutions are closely aligned with business objectives and Company's technology standards and principles.

The position partners with business and IT stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, compliant, and future-ready technology solutions. It focuses on maintaining technology currency, reducing technical debt, and ensuring that enterprise architecture continues to support evolving business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and oversee the enterprise IT architecture strategy, standards, principles, and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure architecture decisions and technology investments align with business strategy, enterprise priorities, and Company technology guardrails.
  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, sustainable, and compliant technology solutions across the organization.
  • Drive initiatives to modernize legacy platforms, reduce technical debt, and maintain a current and resilient technology landscape.
  • Govern the integration and adoption of new technologies within existing enterprise platforms and architecture.
  • Ensure technology solutions comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, security standards, and risk management frameworks.

Major Accountabilities

1. Shape Technology Architecture — 30%

  • Define and evolve the enterprise technology architecture, ensuring the overall information technology landscape supports business strategy and long-term technology objectives.
  • Assess the application portfolio, technology platforms, and tools to identify modernization opportunities and ensure technology remains current and fit for purpose.

2. Lead Architectural Governance and Technical Direction — 30%

  • Mentor, coach, and guide application and technical architects across complex programs and initiatives covering multiple technology domains.
  • Review architectural decisions, design patterns, and technology standards to ensure consistency with the overall technology strategy, architecture, and roadmap.

3. Strengthen Architectural Governance and Compliance — 20%

  • Support architecture governance and audit activities by ensuring technology solutions comply with established architectural standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with governance teams and enterprise architects across different regions to maintain consistent architectural practices and governance standards.

4. Drive Technology Thought Leadership and Cloud Standards — 20%

  • Provide strategic technology leadership across areas including digital platforms, mobile applications, microservices, application programming interfaces, cloud computing, DevOps, workflow, document management, and identity and access management.
  • Define and maintain technology standards, architectural guardrails, reference architectures, and design patterns for applications operating on Company's cloud environment.

Specialized Knowledge

  • Expert knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF, Zachman, or Gartner Enterprise Architecture, with the ability to apply them pragmatically to large-scale transformation programs.
  • Broad technical expertise across areas such as microservices, commercial off-the-shelf solutions, legacy modernization, enterprise integration, content management, business process management, workflow, digital platforms, mobile applications, cloud computing, application programming interfaces, DevOps, and identity and access management.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise solution design, reference architectures, technology frameworks, and architectural patterns relevant to financial services and insurance.
  • Deep knowledge of the financial services and insurance industry, including regulatory, compliance, operational, and technology considerations that influence enterprise architecture.

Problem Solving

  • Resolve complex, cross-domain technology challenges involving legacy systems, digital platforms, cloud technologies, and multiple interconnected business capabilities.
  • Evaluate architectural trade-offs between short-term delivery objectives and long-term scalability, sustainability, technology currency, and technical debt.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into business-oriented recommendations and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in information technology, with preferably 5+ years of experience within financial services or insurance.
  • Extensive experience across multiple technology domains, including cloud computing, application programming interfaces, microservices, enterprise integration, DevOps, mobile and web technologies, identity and access management, and workflow platforms.
  • Strong experience designing and governing complex enterprise-scale technology environments, including technology modernization, application portfolio management, and technical debt reduction.
  • Proven ability to work with senior business and technology stakeholders and to lead, mentor, and influence architects, technical leads, and engineering teams.
