Automated Test Engineer (Web & Mobile)

Responsibilities

• Own and grow our Maestro end-to-end suite, using Maestro Studio to build and maintain flows for iOS, Android, React Native and web
• Write lower-level mobile UI tests in XCUITest (Swift) and Espresso or Compose UI Test (Kotlin) where Maestro isn't the right fit
• Turn Spec Kit specifications and acceptance criteria into automated tests, and use Claude to speed up test design and generation
• Automate API and integration tests for our Java backend services and Ruby product
• Work with developers on unit tests and track coverage in Codecov, setting sensible thresholds and closing gaps
• Integrate suites into CI/CD pipelines with clear reporting on every build
• Help provision and maintain test environments on AWS using Terraform
• Run tests across browsers, real devices and simulators, including cloud device farms
• Test mobile-specific behaviour: OS versions, screen sizes, permissions, background/foreground, network loss, push notifications and deep links

Requirements

• 3+ years in test automation or software development in test across web and mobile apps, with substantial mobile experience
• Strong TypeScript, working with Swift and Kotlin, and enough Java and Ruby to read and test backend code
• Hands-on native test automation with XCUITest/XCTest on iOS and Espresso or Compose UI Test on Android
• Hands-on end-to-end automation with Maestro (including Maestro Studio) across mobile and web, or strong Detox, Appium or Playwright experience and keenness to move to Maestro
• API testing with Postman, REST Assured or Pact
• Comfortable using AI in your daily work, ideally Claude, and working from specs in a spec- driven workflow such as Spec Kit
• Experience running web and mobile tests in CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Xcode Cloud or fastlane), on browser and device farms, with coverage reporting in Codecov, and working with Git
• Solid grasp of web and mobile testing challenges (cross-browser issues, device fragmentation, OS versions, app lifecycle, offline states) and the test pyramid
