Android Software Engineer

Role Description This is a full-time remote role for an Android Software Engineer. The Android Software Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain Android applications that integrate with BJAK's insurance and financial platforms. Responsibilities include collaborating with product managers, designers, and back-end engineers to translate requirements into robust mobile features, writing clean and maintainable code, and implementing best practices for performance, security, and reliability. The role involves participating in code reviews, troubleshooting and resolving defects, optimizing app performance, and contributing to continuous improvement of the mobile development process. The Android Software Engineer will also help integrate APIs, manage app releases, and stay current with Android frameworks, tools, and industry trends.
Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles
• Proficiency in Software Development and Programming for Android using languages such as Kotlin and/or Java
• Experience with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and design patterns in mobile application development
• Understanding of Back-End Web Development concepts, RESTful APIs, and client-server integration
• Experience with Android SDK, Jetpack components, and modern Android app architecture (e.g., MVVM, Clean Architecture)
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows
• Knowledge of mobile security, performance optimization, and automated testing for Android
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Effective communication skills, ability to work independently in a remote setting, and collaborate within cross-functional teams
• Experience in fintech, insurtech, or building large-scale consumer-facing applications is an advantage
