JOB PURPOSE

The 3D Designer is a core member of the In-Market Creative Studio, dedicated to one of our key account. This role focuses on conceptualizing, designing, and rendering innovative 3D structures for Point of Sale Materials (POSM) across the account's diverse brand portfolio. The 3D Designer translates shopper touchpoint strategies into tangible, executable retail displays that drive conversion, ensuring that all designs are structurally sound, cost-effective, and aligned with brand guidelines. The role demands a blend of creative vision and practical engineering knowledge to deliver premium POSM solutions that stand out in competitive retail environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Structural Design & 3D Modeling

Create detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and realistic renderings for a wide range of POSM, including floor stands, endcaps, gondola ends, countertop displays, and customized retail installations.

  • Develop innovative POSM concepts that are visually striking and engineered for practical manufacturing, taking into account material efficiencies and structural integrity.
  • Produce accurate technical drawings and specifications (tech packs) to guide vendors during the manufacturing process.
  • Create high-quality 3D renderings and mockups for client presentations and approval processes.
  • Ensure all designs comply with retail space constraints, safety standards, and brand guidelines.

2. Value & Sustainability Engineering

Collaborate with the Strategic Sourcing and Production teams to optimize designs for cost efficiency without compromising premium intent.

  • Apply value engineering principles to reduce material waste and production costs while maintaining design quality.
  • Select sustainable substrates and materials, contributing to Tag's sustainability initiatives and brand's environmental commitments.
  • Ensure designs are scalable and practical for last-mile delivery and installation across diverse retail environments (supermarkets, hypermarkets, convenience stores).

3. Innovation & Creative Development

Drive POSM innovation by researching new materials, construction techniques, and retail display trends to bring fresh, market-relevant ideas to the account.

  • Participate in market visits with the account team and stakeholders to identify innovation opportunities in real-life retail settings.
  • Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept models for new POSM formats and structures.
  • Contribute to creative chemistry sessions and briefing workshops to ensure design solutions align with campaign objectives.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with the Account Team to interpret client briefs and understand specific brand objectives for each campaign.

  • Collaborate with the Retail Designer (2D) to ensure seamless integration of graphic elements with 3D structural designs.
  • Coordinate with production managers and vendors to validate design feasibility and resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Support the Quality Assurance process by reviewing production samples against approved 3D designs.

5. Production Support & Quality Control

  • Conduct site checks and provide technical guidance during POSM installation at retail locations.
  • Review vendor production samples and prototypes to ensure adherence to approved specifications.
  • Maintain an organized library of 3D design files, templates, and technical specifications for recurring POSM items.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, 3D Design, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in 3D structural design, specifically focused on POSM, retail displays, exhibition stands, or similar commercial applications.
  • Preferred Background: Candidates with hands-on experience in POSM production, retail fixture design, or event/exhibition design are strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering software (e.g., 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, SolidWorks, Rhino). Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) is required.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, print production, material properties (e.g., acrylic, metal, wood, corrugated board, PVC), and sustainable design principles.
  • Soft Skills: Creative problem-solving, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
  • Communication: English proficiency (written and verbal) for client-facing communications and technical documentation.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  • Quality and innovation of 3D design outputs against client expectations.
  • On-time delivery of design concepts, technical drawings, and renderings.
  • Accuracy of technical specifications and production-readiness of designs.
  • Cost optimization achieved through value engineering initiatives.
  • Adherence to brand guidelines and structural safety standards.
  • Contribution to POSM innovation pipeline and new format development.
