The Opportunity

We are seeking a professional to join the Acumen team to provide full-time support to one of our prestigious higher education clients, University of Melbourne*, to support the University's student recruitment and engagement activities in the Vietnam market.

Role Summary:

Working within the parameters of the University of Melbourne's Vietnam Market Action Plan and broader international diversification plan and under the guidance of the Country Manager (Vietnam), the position involves developing, maintaining, and reviewing a strong in-country presence for the University.

A dynamic, motivated individual with the highest-order communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills is required to lead and support recruitment and engagement activities managed by the University of Melbourne Vietnam office. These activities include University profiling, student recruitment, alumni support, and stakeholder relationship management. Some administrative duties are also required.

A significant part of this role focuses on facilitating and attending student recruitment activities, including education exhibitions, information seminars, webinars, interview programs, school visits, supporting current University activities across Vietnam, relationships with third parties, and managing data and marketing collateral.

To succeed, the Senior Country Officer requires knowledge of the University of Melbourne student experience and the capacity to engage with prospective students and their families effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deputise and act as the second-in-command to the Country Manager (Vietnam) as required.
  • Proactively contribute to the development and implementation of the Vietnam Market Action Plan.
  • Coordinate University profiling, engagement and student recruitment activities, and support alumni activities, delivered in Vietnam.
  • Coordinate and represent the University at profiling events in eastern Vietnam, including in key recruitment regions (Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang) and other areas as required.
  • Initiate and ensure delivery of follow-up activities for conversion of leads to applicants, and offer holders to acceptances.
  • Take ownership of projects as required to support achievement of the Vietnam Market Action Plan.
  • Work with a continuous improvement mindset to make recommendations and improvements to the recruitment, application, and onboarding experience of prospective students, including monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of recruitment activities.
  • Adhere to process and policies for the use of the OneCRM and keep contact databases for prospective students up-to-date.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Melbourne-based colleagues to ensure a seamless application experience for future students. Internal stakeholders, include Admissions, Divisional Group, Scholarships, Chancellery, and Communications and Marketing (C&M) team colleagues.
  • Support University staff visits for student recruitment, engagement, and alumni events as required.
  • Support the preparation of promotional material for student recruitment events including by working closely with the C&M team and the Country Manager.
  • Demonstrate commitment to a positive and professional work environment that fosters innovation, teamwork, high achievement, continuous improvement, and job satisfaction.
  • Provide project level support for cross market activities planned and executed by the Offshore Recruitment team for all global markets.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification plus a minimum of 4-5 years of experience in university counseling or similar role and interaction with students, parents, and school counselors.
  • Study experience in Australia would be highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the University's position compared with other Australian and international universities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the University of Melbourne's courses, student services, and employability outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience using the CRM to help build leads and convert them into applications and enrolments
  • Demonstrated experience using Canva or other design apps to create basic promotional material
  • Word-processing, spreadsheet, and data management skills, including working with digital customer relationship management systems
  • Self-driven individual with a demonstrated ability to work efficiently on different projects at the same time and a demonstrated ability to work in a hectic environment
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English and demonstrated experience in communicating effectively with people in a broad range of roles.
  • Sound judgment and good cross-cultural understanding.
  • High level of ethics and personal probity.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and evening and occasional weekend work may be required.
