Position Summary:
The Cost Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of cost-related data, calculating product costs, monitoring cost variances, and supporting management in cost analysis for decision-making. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to control inventory, resolve cost-related issues, and ensure compliance with internal control standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Control the update of cost-related data from relevant departments, ensuring accuracy and completeness for cost calculation purposes.
- Perform product cost calculations, review cost reasonableness, and analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) fluctuations compared to previous periods.
- Compare actual costs against planned costs for management and decision-making purposes.
- Monitor inventory movements of goods and raw materials in the system, investigate abnormal transactions, and coordinate with relevant departments to take corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other departments in conducting annual and ad-hoc inventory counts.
- Support production teams in resolving transactional issues such as COGI errors and data issues (e.g., unit of measure, unit price).
- Participate in projects to review and assess the usability of inventory.
- Provide cost and costing data to stakeholders upon request.
- Implement and monitor compliance with SOX requirements according to the RCM for internal controls related to costing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cost accounting, audit, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting methods, inventory management, and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance is an advantage.
