Job Description

Join a high-growth, private equity-backed data centre platform with strong funding and ambitious expansion plans across Asia-Pacific. This is an opportunity to take ownership of in-house payroll across Southeast Asia, Japan, and Korea, while gaining broader exposure to regional HR operations, systems, and people processes. Reporting directly to the HR Director, you will work in a lean, flat, and collaborative environment where you can make a tangible impact as the business scales.

As the Regional APAC HR Payroll Specialist, you will manage the end-to-end payroll process for APAC employees, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll delivery across the region. The role will also support core HR operations and contribute to the continued development of scalable people processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full monthly, in-house payroll cycle across APAC, including Southeast Asia, Japan, and Korea.
  • Process and validate payroll inputs, including new hires, exits, salary changes, bonuses, allowances, overtime, leave, reimbursements, and other variable payments.
  • Ensure accurate calculation and payment of salaries, statutory contributions, taxes, deductions, and other payroll-related payments.
  • Maintain payroll records, reconciliations, payroll journals, bank files, statutory reporting, and audit documentation.
  • Partner with Finance on payroll funding, payments, cost allocations, month-end reporting, and accruals.
  • Prepare statutory filings, tax documentation, and year-end payroll reporting in accordance with local requirements.
  • Keep abreast of local payroll, tax, social-security, and employment-law changes across relevant markets.
  • Respond to employee payroll queries accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain robust payroll controls, data privacy standards, payroll calendars, and process documentation.
  • Support employee lifecycle administration, including onboarding, transfers, employee changes, and offboarding.
  • Maintain accurate employee information across HRIS, payroll systems, and personnel records.
  • Support HR reporting, benefits administration, process improvement, HRIS enhancements, and other regional HR projects.

Background

  • 6-8 years of payroll experience, including direct responsibility for end-to-end, in-house payroll processing.
  • Experience supporting multiple APAC markets; Southeast Asia experience is essential, while exposure to Japan and/or Korea would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll calculations, statutory contributions, tax, deductions, payroll accounting, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working closely with Finance on payroll funding, reporting, journals, and accruals.
  • Proficient in Excel and experienced in using HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, discreet, and able to manage critical payroll deadlines independently.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving, and less structured environment.
