Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Project General Manager (GM) to provide executive-level leadership and oversight for a major, high-value project (or portfolio of projects). The Project GM will bear full responsibility for the project's overall success, including P&L management, strategic direction, client satisfaction, and delivery within scope, schedule, and budget. This role is the single point of accountability for all project facets, from inception to closeout.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Accountability:

  • Act as the primary leader and single point of contact for the client, executive management, and external stakeholders.
  • Define the project's strategic vision and objectives, ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals.
  • Hold ultimate accountability for the project's Profit & Loss (P&L), including revenue, costs, and profitability.
  • Make high-stakes decisions that impact the project's trajectory and financial outcome.

Project Delivery & Execution:

  • Provide ultimate oversight for all project phases: planning, design, procurement, execution, monitoring & controlling, and closure.
  • Ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and specification standards.
  • Champion risk management; proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project-critical risks and issues.
  • Resolve escalated issues that are beyond the authority of the Project Director or Manager.

Financial Management:

  • Own the project's multi-million-dollar budget. Approve major expenditures and financial commitments.
  • Review and approve detailed cost forecasts, financial reports, and variance analyses.
  • Lead negotiations on major contracts, change orders, and claims with clients, partners, and key vendors.

Client & Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain exceptional, trusted-advisor relationships with the client and senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure client expectations are managed and exceeded, safeguarding client satisfaction and fostering opportunities for repeat business.
  • Represent the company at senior-level meetings, public hearings, and community forums.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Provide direct leadership and mentorship to the senior project team (e.g., Project Director, Project Manager, Superintendents, Lead Engineers).
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and safety-first culture across the entire project team and all subcontractors.
  • Set clear goals, delegate authority effectively, and hold team members accountable for deliverable.

Contract & Compliance:

  • Ensure full contractual compliance with client, company, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the legal and contractual aspects of the project, working alongside legal counsel as needed.
  • Guarantee adherence to all safety, environmental, and quality standards and regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in project management within the MFG, energy, and tech sectors.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering large-scale, complex projects with values exceeding $50 million.
  • Demonstrated experience in full P&L management and financial acumen for a major project.
  • Extensive experience in client relations and executive-level stakeholder management.
  • Strong background in contract negotiation and administration.

Preferred:

  • Experience working on projects similar in type and scale to our company's focus.
