Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft's expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft's Intelligent Cloud mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled and experiencedPrincipal Storage Engineerto Architect and optimize our enterprise storage infrastructure in support ofSilicon Development. This role is pivotal in ensuring theavailability, performance, scalability, and securityof storage systems that are critical to EDA tool simulationsand workflows.
The candidate will possess deep technical expertise acrossOn-Premises and Cloud SAN/NAS storage technologies, replication strategies, backup and recovery solutions, and performance tuningfor high-throughput, low-latency environments.
Thisglobal rolerequires close collaboration withOperations and Silicon Design teamsto gather workload forecasts, analyze usage patterns, and ensure the efficiency and reliability of storage services. You will play a key role in shaping the future of storage infrastructure that powersMicrosoft's silicon innovation, operating at the intersection ofinfrastructure engineering and advanced semiconductor development.

Responsibilities
- Architect, Design, implement, and manage enterprise storage solutionsacross a diverse range of on-premises and cloud platforms, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Continuously monitor storage performance and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks while planning for future growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including silicon design, CAD, operations, and infrastructure engineering, to align storage solutions with evolving business and technical requirements.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentationfor storage architecture, operational procedures, and compliance policies.
- Driving technical execution and mentoring other engineers to build team capability.
- Ensure adherence to data governance, compliance, and security standards, including encryption, access control, and audit readiness.
- Support backup and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity, availability, and rapid recovery for critical workloads.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. (required)
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise storage administration. (required)
- 4+ years with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation. (required)
- 4+ Years supporting Engineering at a semiconductor company (required)
- Expertise in storage platforms such as NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, or similar. (required)
- Good knowledge of storage protocols (iSCSI, FC, NFS, SMB). (required)
- Experience with backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, Veritas). (preferred)
- Storage-related certifications (e.g., NetApp NCDA, EMC Proven Professional). (preferred)
- Experience with cloud storage (AWS S3, Azure Blob, Azure ANF, Google Cloud Storage). (preferred)
