As the Principal Failure Analysis Engineer specializing in high-powered lithium-ion cells, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the quality systems, product design, and manufacturing processes in a brand-new factory. As a technical leader on the Quality Assurance team, your focus will be establishing and leading failure analysis (FA) processes for both finished and in-process products. Your insights will drive corrective actions and influence next-generation designs to ensure industry-leading performance.

You'll work closely with cross-functional teams—including equipment engineering, process engineering, production, and design—to champion a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence in the production of consumer battery-powered tools.

You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians; set best practices and develop training programs.
• Develop and oversee the full FA process, including systems implementation and optimization.
• Manage a departmental budget and recommend strategies for innovation and capital investment.
• Establish a comprehensive FA database, ensuring clear root cause documentation, failure prioritization, traceability, and trending insights for cross-functional use.
• Drive corrective actions across all stages of the product lifecycle.
• Lead investigations into external quality incidents and coordinate responsive actions.
• Partner with design and process quality teams to implement lasting improvements.
• Benchmark and introduce advanced analytical techniques to enhance diagnostic capabilities and improve product reliability.

The TOOLS you'll bring with you:

• Ph.D. in Electrochemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in failure analysis, product design, or manufacturing of lithium-ion cells.
• Proficiency with industry-standard analytical tools (e.g., SEM, EIS, TGA, DSC, GCMS, CT).
• Solid understanding of quality tools, statistical analysis, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Proven project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluent in written and verbal English.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
