ABOUT YOUR ROLE:
As part of the Global Materials Sourcing Team, The Senior Leather Technician will support & execute the leather development& sourcing activities that service all VF brands and products. The role will operationally connect with Brands, Product Supply, Sourcing Development, Sourcing Operations and Quality organizations, as well as external stakeholders with VFs supply chain across T1 vendors and T2 suppliers
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Include but not limited to:
- Management of the development of leather materials through the go to market calendar to ensure all milestones are timely met.
- Provide and manage required reporting to support development tracking and required connectivity to brand materials, sourcing development & sourcing opertions teams
- Act as the key liaison for brand-based material teams in support of seasonal leather developments, identification of trends and new materialilizations
- Support quality teams to ensure leather specific quality systems are appropriately applied at both suppliers and vendors.
- Conduct all required quality assessments on new development leathers in support of material teams and sourcing development teams to ensure smooth commercialization processes
- Provide support Senior Manager Material Sourcing and Global Material Planning teams in the creation and execution of seasonal leather allocation plans,
- Monitor tannery performance management via SPM systems and support CAP execution at suppliers
- Support regional sourcing operations teams as needed with leather related topics
WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:
- A strong technical background in leather production & quality assessment tools
- A detailed understanding of leather supply chains, tanneries, chemical suppliers and industry related networks and organisations (LWG, ZDHC)
- Ability develop clear, concise guidelines and visual documents to support execution of leather usage guidelines and quality systems.
- Understanding of sustainability, traceability and environmental considerations impacting with leather supply chain.
- Strong communication and cross functional engagement skills
- Ability to operate with a fast moving highly matrixed organization
