Job Description
About the Venture
We are a newly formed stealth subsidiary of Capcon, a unicorn in 2.5D/3D semiconductor advanced packaging, with Wright Partners working alongside Capcon to build the venture.
We are entering the market at an inflection point: hyperscaler demand for CPO, the shift from pluggables to integrated optics, and the rapid capacity build out across SEA, Japan, and Korea photonics OSATs.
About the Role
You will be our founding commercial hire, owning business development and revenue growth across SEA, Japan, and Korea.
We are looking for an experienced semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales or business development professional who has built markets, customer relationships, or new business lines from 0 to 1.
This is a hands on 0 to 1 role. You will help build the commercial engine from the ground up, working directly with the founding team to identify where we can win, open the right accounts, develop customer relationships, scope opportunities, and turn early engagements into commercial traction.
You will personally open accounts, understand customer needs, scope deals, develop pilots and NRE engagements, and close POs. You will not be stepping into an established sales organisation or inheriting a mature funnel. You will help shape where we play, how we win, and how we build the first commercial traction, while building the playbook by running it yourself.
This is a role for someone who wants to build something from the ground up, not simply manage an existing sales pipeline.
What You'll Do
- Build the commercial pipeline aggressively. Open new accounts at photonics focused OSATs across SEA, Japan, and Korea, including Jabil, Fabrinet Thailand, Inari, OSE, and equivalents, and grow wallet share within existing accounts.
- Work both sides of the OSAT relationship. Engage capex decision makers including COO, VP Operations, plant GMs, and procurement on the OSAT side, as well as process, yield, and failure analysis engineers on the principal side who define inspection and manufacturing requirements.
- Identify and develop new equipment opportunities. Understand customer process pain points, failure modes, escape rates, throughput bottlenecks, and manufacturing requirements, and translate these into equipment and solution opportunities.
- Scope and close pilots and NRE projects. Translate customer process pain points into scoped pilots, NRE funded development engagements, and ultimately multi unit equipment orders.
- Own the commercial pipeline end to end. Personally drive forecasting, pricing, contract negotiation, and PO closure, working closely with applications and engineering teams in Singapore and Capcon HQ.
- Be the voice of the customer internally. Feed customer requirements, roadmap input, specifications, and competitive intelligence back to product and engineering. Early wins and losses will help shape the product.
- Build the playbook by running it. Use early customer conversations, pilots, wins, losses, and market learnings to shape where we play, how we win, and how we build the commercial engine.
What You'll Need
Required
- 7+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales or business development, with a track record of personally closing semiconductor equipment POs.
- Proven experience selling semiconductor manufacturing equipment directly into semiconductor manufacturers, OSATs, or other semiconductor production environments, rather than primarily selling consumables, services, or software.
- Experience building a new market, product, business line, or customer base from 0 to 1.
- Relevant experience in semiconductor equipment, advanced packaging, inspection, or metrology is highly relevant. Photonics specific experience is an advantage.
- Existing, warm relationships at photonics OSATs in at least SEA and preferably Japan and Korea, at both operational/capex and engineering levels.
- Direct experience selling into or working with photonics principals such as Broadcom, Lumentum, Coherent, Marvell, Cisco, Intel PSG, or similar companies.
- Strong technical fluency in optical packaging, including CPO, OSAs, InP/SiPh die, fiber attach, active/passive alignment, and the inspection and metrology challenges across these flows.
- Experience managing complex technical sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders across engineering, operations, procurement, and senior management.
- Demonstrated ability to scope NRE engagements and convert pilots into volume equipment orders.
- Strong commercial ownership, including account development, opportunity qualification, forecasting, pricing, negotiation, and PO closure.
- Hunter mentality. You should be energised, not exhausted, by cold calls, plant visits, customer meetings, and travel to pursue opportunities.
- Comfort operating as an individual contributor in a 0 to 1 environment.
Strongly Preferred
- Prior experience with semiconductor manufacturing equipment companies such as KLA, Applied Materials, Lam Research, Tokyo Electron (TEL), ASMPT, SCREEN Semiconductor Solutions, Hitachi High Tech, Onto Innovation, Camtek, Cohu, Mycronic, Nordson, BESI, Kulicke & Soffa (K&S), EV Group (EVG), SÜSS MicroTec, DISCO, Teradyne, Advantest, Vitrox, or comparable semiconductor equipment vendors.
- Proven experience building semiconductor manufacturing equipment sales from 0 to 1, including opening new markets, developing customer relationships, and establishing new business lines or territories.Experience in advanced packaging, photonics, optical packaging, CPO, OSAs, InP/SiPh, fiber attach, active/passive alignment, or related manufacturing processes.
- Existing relationships with photonics focused OSATs and semiconductor manufacturing customers across SEA, Japan, and Korea.
- Experience working with photonics principals or technology companies such as Broadcom, Lumentum, Coherent, Marvell, Cisco, Intel, or similar.
- Existing network into hyperscaler photonics teams such as Meta, Microsoft, Google, and AWS, who increasingly drive CPO specifications downstream.
What Success Looks Like
6 Months
- Qualified pipeline of 8 to 12 new target accounts across SEA, Japan, and Korea.
- 2 to 3 active pilot or NRE conversations beyond Inari.
- Strong relationships established with relevant commercial, operational, engineering, and procurement stakeholders across priority accounts.
- Clear understanding of priority customer segments, applications, competitive landscape, and where the venture can win.
12 Months
- First paid pilots or NRE projects signed with new accounts.
- First new account equipment PO landed or in late stage negotiation.
- Meaningful expansion of existing engagements.
- A repeatable commercial playbook emerging from first customer wins, pilots, and market learnings.
