Accounting Manager / Finance Manager
(Regulated, Analytical Services Environment)
We are seeking a hands-on Accounting & Finance Manager to lead end-to-end accounting operations for a highly regulated, compliance-led services organisation. This role suits a finance professional who combines strong audit discipline with commercial acumen, is highly numerical, and enjoys working directly in the detail while partnering closely with operations to support sound financial and operational decision-making.
This position operates within a high-volume, process-driven environment with complex costing structures, consumables tracking, and rigorous financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
Hands-On Accounting Operations
- Manage full-spectrum accounting operations including AP, AR, billing, costing, tax, and general accounting
- Oversee high-volume transaction processing, ensuring accuracy across service revenue and operating costs
- Own month-end and year-end close, delivering timely, clean, and well-supported financials
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare, review, and analyse P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and management reports
- Monitor margins across multiple service lines and cost centres
- Provide clear, data-driven insights to support pricing, utilisation, and cost-efficiency decisions
Budgeting, Forecasting & Commercial Support
- Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts in close partnership with operational and business leaders
- Perform detailed variance analysis and identify key cost and performance drivers
- Apply strong analytical and commercial judgment to recommend improvements and optimisation opportunities
General Ledger, Compliance & Controls
- Maintain integrity of the general ledger, including journals, reconciliations, and adjustments
- Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, tax regulations, GAAP, and IFRS
- Operate confidently within a highly regulated, audit-heavy environment supported by robust internal controls
- Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory stakeholders
Process & Systems Improvement
- Review and enhance accounting processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and control
- Support system and process improvements related to billing, costing, inventory / consumables tracking, and revenue recognition
- Establish, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a small to mid-sized accounting team
- Maintain high standards of discipline, accountability, and technical accuracy
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong hands-on accounting experience with end-to-end ownership
- Big 4 or audit-trained background, with subsequent in-house / commercial experience
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving capability
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to translate operational data into financial insight
- Experience in regulated, compliance-led, high-volume service environments
- Exposure to complex billing models, detailed costing structures, and consumables-driven cost bases
- Must have Chief Accountant Certificate
- Audit, tax, and compliance experience highly preferred
