About VPCA

The Vietnam Private Capital Agency (VPCA) is a social enterprise dedicated to promoting and strengthening the venture capital and private equity ecosystem in Vietnam. Established in 2024 by leading investors from Vietnam, alongside an advisory board that includes INSEAD and the World Bank, VPCA is committed to cultivating a robust network to drive entrepreneurship across the region.

Why This Role Matters

Were hiring our first full-time Executive Director to lead VPCA into its next phase of growth. The role combines strategic leadership, community-building, and operational execution. Youll work closely with a highly engaged board, an operations team member, and a growing group of VC/PE leaders across Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

What Were Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in NGO, fundraising, P&L management & community engagement
  • Experience in venture capital/private equity is helpful but not mandatory
  • Track record in fundraising, business development, or revenue generation
  • Strong execution capabilities with excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills; experience working with boards a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Vietnamese fluency is preferred but not required
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable wearing multiple hats
  • Familiarity with Vietnams business, government, and startup ecosystem
  • Open for career transitions or semi-retired professionals candidates
  • Compensation: USD $60K/year + performance-based bonus (initial 3-month runway secured)

Key Responsibilities

Board Management

  • Align a board with different motivations, communication styles, and engagement levels
  • Prepare for and lead bi-monthly board meetings (agendas, decks, follow-ups)
  • Leverage the unique value of each board member into a larger strategic asset

Fundraising

  • Raise at least $100K in the first year from new sources (memberships, sponsorships, etc.)
  • Sales outreach, leverage LinkedIn, our network, and board amplification
  • Explore creative revenue models (e.g. professional education, campaigns, auctions, development bank partnerships)

Organizational Leadership & Operations

  • Own the P&L, implement financial strategy, and build a sustainable operating buffer
  • Lead and mentor a junior operations manager
  • Ensure systems and processes run smoothly across the organization

Supporting

Membership Growth & Onboarding

  • Attract and retain high-caliber members, especially LPs, and GPs from established VC/PE firms (with KPI)
  • Build and optimize the full funnel: from top-of-funnel outreach to closing new members
  • Ensure a high-touch, seamless onboarding and member engagement experience

Community Building & Events

  • Oversee bi-monthly Lunch & Learns and social events (dinners, yacht cruises, pickleball tournaments, etc)
  • Maintain the current tone: curated, high-quality, and relationship-driven
  • Support VPCA marquee summit (led by a VPCA sub-committee)

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • A public-facing operator who thrives on both strategy and execution
  • Experience managing diverse boards and aligning stakeholders with conflicting priorities
  • Fundraising experience, with hustle to build new revenue from scratch
  • Strong relationship builder, especially with institutional investors and government stakeholders
  • Comfortable working with limited resources, and willing to lead by doing
  • Based in Vietnam
  • Vietnamese fluency is helpful, but not required

What Success Looks Like

  • VPCA raises >$100K in new funds within 12 months
  • Membership grows with a strong renewal rate
  • Events continue to deliver value, grow in attendance, and generate sponsorship
  • Align the board around strategy and engagement, leverage the active board to achieve more
  • VPCA has a clear financial buffer and systems in place for sustainable growth
