In this role, you will be instrumental in the BIW Department - Ebus Vehicle Development Program, using your extensive skills to process and analyze large volumes of data. You will collaborate with diverse teams, including Engineering, Quality Control and VINFAST suppliers, to create cutting-edge solutions that will drive the future of transportation.
Module Design And Integration Leadership
- Lead end-to-end design and integration activities for the BIW and Doors & Closure module.
- Ensure designs meet structural, safety, durability, and functional requirements.
- Manage interface alignment with adjacent systems and the overall vehicle architecture.
- Conduct bench marking studies of competitor products to inform design direction and innovation.
Regulatory And Compliance Oversight
- Interpret and apply applicable electric bus safety, structural, and compliance regulations.
- Ensure BIW and Doors & Closure system designs meet global and regional homologation and certification standards.
- Coordinate with validation and homologation teams to close any design-related gaps.
Critical Design Thinking & Cost Optimization
- Apply structured problem-solving to achieve optimal design trade-offs between strength, manufacturability, and cost.
- Lead cost-down initiatives, optimizing the BOM while maintaining quality and performance.
- Investigate and integrate new materials (e.g., lightweight alloys, composites), technologies, and manufacturing processes to drive value.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Interface with procurement, manufacturing, validation, and styling teams to ensure cross-functional design feasibility and excellence.
- Support issue resolution across development phases (design, prototype, SOP).
- Facilitate communication across modules to prevent integration issues and manage design interfaces effectively.
- Work closely with global Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) to ensure timely task completion, analyze data, and coordinate project progress.
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives within the design and integration workflow.
- Leverage digital tools such as CATIA, CAD, CAE, and virtual validation to accelerate development timelines.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, integration summaries, and executive reports.
- Track and report on industry trends and emerging technologies within the BIW and Doors & Closure domain for electric commercial vehicles.
Requirements
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in vehicle design and integration, preferably in electric or ICE Buses.
- Deep understanding of BIW structures, Doors & Closure systems, vehicle integration principles, and electric bus platform requirements.
- Familiarity with global automotive regulatory standards and certification processes.
- Proven track record in cost engineering and value optimization.
Preferred Skills
- Strong knowledge of BIW manufacturing processes, door mechanisms, sealing systems, and closure hardware.
- Experience with benchmarking competitor products and analyzing market trends to drive innovation.
- Proficiency in tools such as CATIA,CAD, PLM, Teamcenter, CAE, JIRA, and ECR/DCR workflows.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and results-driven with a proactive mindset.
