Role Purpose:
The role will support the Vietnam Tax Manager in monitoring and managing tax matters for legal entities In Vietnam, in addition to support on other businesses in the region as needed. This role is particularly important given the extensive complexities of the tax legislation, size of the business, integration of the new Ortholite business and aggressiveness of tax authorities in Vietnam.
This role is responsible for all direct corporate income tax matters and indirect tax matters in Vietnam. The role will involve active management of risk mitigation, tax audits, tax incentives, VAT refunds and opportunities in Vietnam. In addition, the role is responsible for transfer pricing, tax reporting, tax forecasting, tax authority audits and tax advisory matters for Vietnam.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supporting the Vietnam Senior tax manager in managing all corporate income tax compliance obligations for all Vietnam legal entities. This includes managing tax advisors, local BUs and tax authorities as necessary to ensure the group's tax obligations are efficiently managed.
- Lead identification of local tax compliance and planning initiatives in Vietnam, including supporting the execution of such initiatives as required. This includes identification of any tax incentives, tax or government subsidies and tax treatment thereon.
- Assist the Vietnam Senior tax manager in the identification, implementation and management of global strategic tax planning initiatives as relevant to companies in Vietnam, to ensure that the Group's tax charge is optimised.
- Support the Vietnam Senior tax manager in identification of tax risk in relation to all direct and indirect taxes in Vietnam, including identification, investigation and evaluating mitigation to ensure risk is effectively assessed and mitigated. Manage Tax Authority audits/ enquiries, including liaison with tax advisors and managing the provision of information with the Tax Assistant and BUs.
- Provide tax support for business initiatives to improve performance/profitability and ensure the tax position of the Group is optimised. Provision of tax advisory services on business-driven queries and initiatives, and updates on tax developments and implications for the business.
- Coordinate regional cash tax forecasting and payment/refund processes for Vietnam, in particular, review of business submissions, understanding variations and recommended adjustments to ensure that the Group position is accurately managed and manage Tax Assistance in relation to the same.
- Coordination of monthly, quarterly and annual tax reporting and forecasting processes for the territories, including assisting in the review of Year-End tax reporting packs, tax provisions and cash tax forecasts submitted by BUs.
- Provide tax support for treasury/cash management processes across all operations in Vietnam, while ensuring that the Group's tax position is effectively managed and optimised. This includes a cash repatriation strategy.
- Work with local management to ensure that all necessary legal documentation is in place to support any inter-company charges or trading arrangements, including the updating of appropriate agreements.
- Transfer Pricing: Provide guidance and support to the Group Transfer Pricing Director and Vietnam Senior tax manager to ensure maintenance of transfer pricing documentation in relation to intragroup relationships for Management Charges, Global Accounts and other group charges such as shared global IT costs and Royalty and technology fees.
- Indirect tax: Provide support to the Senior tax manager on Indirect tax strategy, risk management, audit support, refund management and review of indirect tax filings.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education & Certifications: Qualified ACCA/CA.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in taxation.
- Background in Big 4 firms with 2–3 years of industry experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Vietnam tax laws and regulations.
- Proven experience managing end-to-end tax filing processes.
- Hands-on experience liaising with tax authorities/bureaus.
- Proficiency in SAP and MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective project management capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Treasury, Group Accounting, and Legal teams.
- Curious, with the ability to quickly learn tax regulations across different jurisdictions.
