Core Responsibilities
Overall: Leads and co-ordinates the transference of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) knowledge and competencies into operational management and providing high level strategic support and advice to senior management on how to role out and perform day to day HSE activities. Delegates to the business to own and drive injury prevention including but not limited to continuous review and improvement of the HSE management system, including reviewing & updating of policies, procedures which management and employees is done and embedded.
- Manage overall HSE performance for own country
- Ensure implementation of the HSE management system via training, advice and operational site reviews / KPI's, assists with the standardisation of HSE activities and information and takes corrective action to rectify non conformances.
- Ongoing checking and validation of the overarching Country HSE/ BCM Management System is in all facilities including all policies, procedures, forms, safety bulletins, inspection checklists, GEMBA checks, Safety Folders, Training Matrix, Safety Engagement Plans, Business Continuity Management (BCM) etc, as amended.
- Ensures HSE team members perform twice yearly site audits, inspections, assessments and site reviews to ensure all sites are safe for all workers. Injury Prevention and administrative support activities, including conducting risk assessments, crisis management support.
- Oversee the effective aligning of Regional HSE projects, strategy plans and KPI's and ensure DHL conforms to legal compliances in regards to HSE, Transport laws and DHL standards, as applicable.
- Plan and manage internal audit for country wide.
- Manage CAPA compliance.
- Conduct workplace audits and inspections, risk assessments, hazard identification and develop appropriate recommendations
- Monitor on process compliance to ensure consistency and continuous improvement.
- Rollout and provide ongoing leadership of all safety related programs including, corporate induction, BBS, BCM, World Safety Day etc. Use KPI's to track site HSE performance and manage by variance to keep sites aligned to safety standards and performance targets.
- Initiate and lead digitalization and continuous improvement in HSE.
- Accountable for Health & Safety and Business Continuity Management (BCM) compliance
- Support in providing advice in tenders to ensure the proposal submitted is compliant (DHL standard and local laws) in term of HSE.
Note: attend a minimum of 2 committee meetings per month to guide the committee and HSE rep's on the proper holding of meetings, completion of minutes correctly, inspections of site are done, communication of HSE information is recorded and prevention activities implemented to improve HSE standards and culture.
Do You Have What It Takes
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years hands-on experience in HSE activities and / or injury prevention & rehabilitation in a sports or workplace environment
- At least 2 years in team management role
- Excellent understanding and experience in Health & Safety, Management System requirements, and BCM.
- Other certifications in fire safety, BCM, dangerous goods, ISO 45001, injury rehabilitation etc. are desirable
- Able to facilitate the transfer of HSE knowledge to site management, enabling them to lead day-to-day safety activities.
