Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise AI/ML models for processing and interpreting EEG, fNIRS, and PPG signals for mental state classification.
- Design calibration-free and adaptive machine learning algorithms to improve real-time neurofeedback accuracy.
- Implement signal processing pipelines to clean, filter, and extract meaningful features from noisy biosignals.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and mobile teams to integrate AI models into our wearable system and cloud infrastructure.
- Improve AI inference latency to ensure real-time responsiveness.
- Research and apply state-of-the-art deep learning (e.g., CNNs, RNNs, transformers) and traditional ML techniques to enhance biosignal interpretation.
- Lead the development of data acquisition and annotation strategies to improve model robustness and generalization.
- Ensure AI compliance with medical device regulations and ethical AI standards.
- Mentor junior AI engineers and contribute to AI research publications, patents, and whitepapers.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or M.S. in Machine Learning, AI, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Computational Biology, or related fields; Bachelor's degree in Science.
- 3+ years of experience in developing AI/ML models, with a solid understanding of classical ML algorithms.
- Strong experience in deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) and ML libraries (scikit-learn, XGBoost, etc.).
- Expertise in time-series signal processing, noise reduction, feature extraction, and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of neurofeedback, BCI (Brain-Computer Interfaces), and cognitive neuroscience is essential.
- Proficiency in Python, NumPy, SciPy, MATLAB, or R for data modelling and analysis.
- Experience with cloud-based ML deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is a plus.
- Familiarity with edge AI optimisation techniques for low-power inference on wearable devices.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
